  1. Yeah I based my 2" on the fact I think it will take an hour to clear the area the entire band and as the numbers means inches per hour even if it averages at green (red and blue included) then that would be 2 inches in the hour
  2. There was definitely red specs 10 mins ago when I was tracking it, one in the centre and one on the left hand side
  3. There is reds in it as well as yellows and greens and is very slow moving so looks like it will provide a couple of inches of snow
  4. That is Cumbria though I would have thought with a NW flow that the Pennines would gobble up a lot of the snow for the East ?
  5. After a very stressful evening with the snow either side of us we finally ended up with just under 3" so am content with that
  6. I said the other day that the cold would last till right through to April with reload after reload hammering the nation with snow from the East and the North with no real mild spell all winter and was laughed at, but now it is looking more and more like a reality
  7. Big band of blizards heading your way on the 4.30 Met Office radar, very tasty looking showers
  8. I am too far west for this, expecting dandruff at best but see how things develop, might take a drive into Kent and book into a Travelodge for the night and watch the action
  9. According to the NW radar accumulation chart you are going to get 7cm of snow in the next 12 hrs
  10. I said 20+ for the north, north east and eastern scotland and I think some areas will get that, if I had to name areas that will get 20 inches I would say yorkshire moors, tyne and wear away from the coast and parts of durham, I never once suggested those snow levels for my region, I have said we would be lucky to get 4, GFS would be lucky to give us 4mm let alone 4in but I stand by the regions above
  11. The GFS is an absolute train wreck in terms of my region, little if any snow, quick return to milder conditions, just awful Hope UKMO and ECM are upgrades
  12. I never said that, I said the North and North East would get 3-4ft of snow from the Northerly if it came off how the 18z showed, there would also IMHO be 20-30ft drifts and then the 18z showed severe blizzards for xmas day so I added that on top of what would be lying already I think I said about 3-4 INCHES for the south not feet
  13. 31, married I am however snow obsessed and these charts are unlike anything I have seen in my lifetime and may never seem again, so naturally there is a sense of desperation to be part of what is turning into being a very special event. So if the South misses out I see nothing wrong in going and staying in a hotel for a couple of days in an area that will be sure of seeing the action.
  14. We are going to get nothing out of the northerly, we never do well with northerlies and the warm sectors look primed for the south, really see little optimism for a snow fest now
  15. Severe downgrades for the south today it is fast becoming a northern and north eastern event, we will end up with the north and north east getting several feet of snow by sunday night and the south getting at best a wintry mix. Very disappointing, guess am ging to have to go snow chasing later in the week
  16. Even if I got the totals a bit wrong I do think some areas are going to get snow totals in feet and not inches although admittedly this is more likely in Tyne and Wear and Yorkshire than the South but we saw last Feb that the country is ill prepared for massive snowfall totals and I doubt lessons have been learned and if what I say happens and some areas get feet then its going to cripple that region so yes if there are people in Yorkshire and Tyne and Wear here it is a good idea to be "panic buying" as whole areas would be cut off if the 18z verified, maybe 7-8ft was a bit exaggerated in hindsight but I think at least 2ft is realistic for the areas I listed above You are being complacent and I over exaggerated, I think the end result should be between the 2
  17. That is what would happen if this comes off though, the whole of Northern Britain and Scotland would get 3 or 4 feet of snow and we have seen 4 inches before cause mayhem, this country is just not equipped to deal with the level of snow that is going to cause a national emergency north of about Leiester
  18. This will paralyse the country, transport system grinding to a halt, loss of power in many areas through sheer weight of severe snowfall, panic buying in the shops from midweek, 3/4 ft of snow with 20ft drifts, food shortages, while this level of snow is great for some it will paralyse Britain
  19. Massive massive upgrades for the north, 3-4ft of snow across huge swathes of the north, north east and scotland if the 18z comes off Less good down here for snow but confident of a little bit
  20. I think this must be a rogue run, maybe a return of the data problems the ECM had a few days back, this is a severe backtrack from the 0z and I just don't believe it really, rogue run surely
  21. ECM please That seems to be the form horse atm
  22. My prediction of lying snow in UK by next Tuesday (22nd) Kent - 6" London - 4" Essex - 7" Norfolk - 10" E Midlands - 10" W Midlands - 7" Suffolk - 10" Lincolnshire - 12" Derbyshire - 10" Yorkshire - 20" Cumbria - 24" Tyneside - 24" Co Durham - 28" Scotland - 20"
  23. 120hrs is hardly FI though The ECM forecasts deep deep snow and massive blizzards and the UKMO is starting to join the party, only the GFS is a bit more conservative but I think by 18Z that will be in line with the ECM
  24. ECM has to be considered the reliable one now though in this timeframe, GFS I think by 18z will be firmly in line with the mammoth blizzards of the ECM
