  1. Heavy snow in Eastbourne now as we get the back end of this shower. Must give almost a cm when finished.
  2. Moderate snow here in Eastbourne. Looks like their getting across now rather than petering out like yesterday. A lot more convection off the dutch coast-looking good.
  3. Drifting snow is going to be the big news this weekend for our region. Even with only 5 to 10 cm this could give serious problems!
  4. Definitely beefing up in the Kent region now. Looking good for East Sussex perhaps soon.
  5. And in a sustained cold spell like this, if when it does break down it is a very gradual process. The models are showing a sharp change for middle of next week. I think we can take it with a large pinch of salt-no doubt about it.
  6. I have just been watching that swinging in to SF on meteox. It looks blistering!
  7. Looks like they are dissipating a lot as they come further in. I would be surprised if we get much here on the south coast.
  8. RM is a snow lover. You can tell in his forecasts. One of the best presenters today I think.
  9. Quite possibly. So far there hasn't been any real prolonged spell of snow for the region. The "extreme weather" incident that occurred earlier this week was rather overdone by the Met Office I think. Extreme snowfall should be 48 to 72 hours of prolonged snowfall(not necessarily very heavy as moderate snowfall with heavy drifting can be far worse)with deep drifting. This occurred regularly in the 1970's winters and the forecasters never referred to them as extreme. I think the "severe" bar has been dropped to silly levels.
  10. What kind of snowfall depths are we talking about for Sunday/Monday on average? Anyone care to make a prediction?
  11. Strange noise at the beginning of the pre recorded forecast on the BBC weather site. It sounds like a ghost! LOL
  12. Entirely agree with you. I noticed one of the met presenters yesterday quoting that Manchester may have had its lowest ever temperature last night! On record that may be but I'd like to know the temperatures in the infamous winters of 1640 to 1680. If only.
  13. Thank god that's a blade of grass or I would have called you a Paramedic.
  14. "If you forecast cold winters every year like Corbyn does, you are bound to be right once every so often. that does not make him a genius! You'll find after every major weather event that it was something Corbyn had predicted. Trouble is...you try and find what he predicts BEFORE it happens" +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ I didn't imply Corbyn was a genius, I don't think he thinks that either. But I saw his broadcast last October with his winter forecast. He is a solar physicist by discipline and I think that he has a lot of other scientists on side. NASA predict a very probable Dalton type Minimum which should herald 20 to 30 of very cold winters in both hemispheres.
  15. You can always tell which presenters luv it and those that ate it; they either overdo or underdo! LOL luv it: Peter Cockcroft, ex met presenter, John Kettley. ate it: Daniel Corbett.
  16. As usual the Met Office use the old "El Nino" and/or "Lower Jet Stream" chess nuts to explain the current severe winter completely contradicting their initial forecast of a mild one. Piers Cobyn and his colleagues predicted a very cold Winter back in October, 2009 focusing on solar activity.WeatherAction.com
  17. Pity we don't have coming in what is off of Eastern Scotland at the moment on radar. Very large echos there.
  18. Cheers for that jasonuk, I think your right, less than a couple of hours and slightly weakening.
  19. Clear and calm here at the moment in Eastbourne, but I can see the large cloud base of the LOW to the North (about 20 miles away I guess). I reckon snow in about 3 hours or maybe less!
  20. What do you expect from the met office? Yesterday the head of the met office still insisted that global warming was still taking place even though the official data shows a cooling trend since 2002!
