  1. Indications for the first time that wind direction is shifting. All ppn previously sliding south of my location - now the radar shows more ppn to the north (which would be the case at first if wind direction turned more NE/E). Weather station shows this also with an alteration, however slight, of windspeed and orientation.
  2. Current temp. -2.0c Dewpoint -4.0c Humidity 86% 1023.6mb Light snow.
  3. Maybe not even that far. It has been snowing very lightly here within the last few minutes and we are on the edge of a fairly narrow band of ppn.
  4. Current temp. -6.1c Dewpoint -7.0c Humidity 90% 1014.6mb Partly cloudy. Little or no wind.
  5. Thanks OON - will keep an eye on your website.
  6. Not in the least boring. I am actually lost for words. The temperature should obviously drop off even faster as the sun goes down as you indicated in an earlier post. Definitely keep us posted.
  7. Current temp. -4.0c Dewpoint -7.0c Humidity 80% 1011.0mb Clear skies. Little or no wind.
  8. Showers just drifting to the south of my location at the moment. Obviously though from a purely observational point of view its either the ppn or the clear skies and low temperatures that I would prefer. The cloud cover will keep those temps. up - in fact here it is now -5.2c from -5.3c. We will have to wait and see what happens I suppose.
  9. -2.8c here at the moment. Dewpoint -5.0c. Clear skies with little or no wind.
  10. Current temp. -2.8c Dewpoint -5.0c Humidity 85% 1005.6mb Clear skies, little or no wind
  11. Current temp. -0.6c Dewpoint -2.0c Humidity 94% 997.0mb Moderate to heavy snow. Lying snow now over 1ft. First time I've ever seen a snowplough used on my road - and needed four attempts to get the job done properly!
  12. Similar here. Slight breeze now too - if that picks up conditions could turn a whole lot worse.
  13. Incredible that you have only had a dusting so far. Snow depth measured 11 inches here earlier this morning and it has continued to snow on and off albeit less heavily since. I'm sure that there will be more to come for your area.
  14. Snow has returned here again after a brief lull. I don't think I've ever seen so much level snow before. I have seen greater depths through drifting snow, mainly in the '80s but in terms of level snow this beats the lot.
  15. Current temp, -0.6c Dewpoint -1.0c Humidity 96% 990mb Little or no wind. Heavy overnight snow. Still snowing.
  16. I do have my doubts now about any considerable break in the ppn before the main band arrives later. I think it will be on and off all the way through. I would prefer to be wrong - the temp. could then drop significantly in advance - although it does not look like that is going to happen anymore. I'm not complaining though - still snowing, still below freezing! We will have to settle for snow from now until morning instead!
  17. Error messages received earlier did indicate a database issue - no additional info. aside from that however.
  18. Only mad people cycle around Mossley - it's all up and down. Really kills the legs. Anyway re that update Happy Days asked about before, a bit of a gap on the radar and then possibly in line for some more moderate snow. Just a fraction too early to tell. The heavier stuff may just go to the south. Even if it does not - unlikely to be prolonged.
  19. I always has a feeling thats where you could be or thereabouts. Not many places in Ashton with that altitude!
  20. Snowing here too, quite heavily. That NW Extra radar is brilliant - I've been watching this snow shower for the past hour and a half! How sad is that!
  21. That is one of the funniest weather warnings I have ever seen!
  22. Current temp. -5.2c Dewpoint -7.0c Humidity 89% 1021.1mb Little or no wind. Snowcover.
  23. It's either that or record the countryfile forecast and watch it over and over again!
  24. -4 or thereabouts (-4.2c now ha! ) is definitely about right for Mossley and parts of Oldham at the moment. As I say, the fluctuations - and they are minimal, aside from keeping the temp. up in the first place - I can only put down to variable cloud. Thanks for the information by the way whitewitch.
  25. You are not the only one Backtrack. The temp. rose a little late afternoon here, and then fell back. According to the Davis it is now up yet again to -3.9c. I can only put that down to limited and variable cloudcover. Skies have not been completely clear all day (patchy light cloud) and that remains the case. Perhaps there is another explanation although if so I do not know what it may be.
