Light snow again. We had a moderate snow shower about 1530h. Snow settled on all surfaces, even twigs and twiglets since there's no wind. 0.4C/0.1C/-0.4C

Shower of wee snowpellets drifting in from the east. Edit: getting quite heavy.

Occasional light snow flurries this morning. Total depth at 09hr, 8cm. The snow has an icy crust to top together with some hail (5-6mm size snowpellets). Min temp 0.2C.

A hefty shower of snowpellets/small hail has covered the wet bare ground white.

This mornings sleet and snow has turned to rain this afternoon, but there was a heavy sleet shower at 16hr. The wind has dropped but has veered from 100deg at 09h to 130deg now. Maybe this explains the rain and sleet here due to shorter land track and more modification from the sea. I went up into my local hills to measure the drifts. The deepest ones were between 60cm and 90cm at 200masl. Max T 1.8C, min -0,1C. Currently, 1.0C/0.9C/0.7C.

A bit wet and slushy here, the snow has turned to sleet today with dewpoints up to 1C. Depth 7.5cm. Was at the Queen Maragaret Hospital, Dunfermline, earlier and there's a couple of inches lying up there and light snow was falling the entire time i was there.

Its getting colder because the snow is now sticking to cars etc..still showery stuff, one minute its off the next a whiteout. Fresh snowfall since 09hr, 2.5cm. Total depth, 6.5cm. Max T 1.3C, Min T 0.0C. Current, Tdry 0.5c, Twet 0.2C, Tdew -0C Edit: its starting to settle on the A road

Getting better here...heaviest snow yet, it sweeping down in sheets. Visibility down to about 1km. Edit: it's off again bar the odd flake.

Proper snow here for the past hour. Its settling too. 4.5cm at 09hr. Went to Asda Kirkcaldy after 09hr....wet snow in coastal/low lying areas like Windygates and Methilhill, and its not lying here. A slushy thin cover in Kirkcaldy. After returning home, i went a walk up into my local hills at 200+masl. God its wild up there...the snow grains were stinging my face and would strip paint off yir car. Snowdrifts up to the top of ma Wellies and blowing snow as well.

Yes, dewpoints seem to be getting lower in the east. Leuchars has dropped to -5C, but the air temp has gone up to 3C.

Just had a sharp shower of larger snow pellets. Seems to be convection ahead of the frontal stuff. I haven't seen a single snowflake all day! Current, 0.7C

These events are very altitute sensitive. Folk were talking about the Feb 2001 spell earlier and comparing it with the current setup. It may look similar but I think the Scandi High and cold pool were far stronger in 2001. I remember a pool of sub 492 air over western Norway at one point. I was doon sooth in 2001 but my folks told me it was deep with deep snow drifts. And even then, Leven had next to nothing.

Places like Leven and Kirkcaldy will get sleet, any snow is unlikely to settle. Being positive, any sleet ought to turn back to snow on Tuesday as the front heads back south and the colder uppers and East winds return.

Was up the hill earlier. Snow starting to drift with slight blowing snow at 200masl. wind direction, 80deg Streamers heading up the Forth with occasional light showers of snow pellets/grains. max t, 1.4C min t, -0.4C current dry t, 0.9C wet t, -0.4C dew t, -3C 2.5cm of snow, which has an icy crust.

Horizontal snow with small fine flakes and settling edit: it's small snowpellets, but at least the bare ground is turning white again

I went up the hill earlier. No dripping at 200m. A few snow showers drifted past. The wind direction has backed from 130deg this morning, to 90deg- a straight easterly. Current station....1.0C/-0.1C
