Could be a lot of rain here, going by the graphics on the points west forecast. A bit of interest for someone who doesn't mind heavy rain and strong winds! It'll be a busy affair tomorrow, that's for sure- and travelling will be rather horrid for anyone caught up in it.

Totally agree about the travelling, I'm working in Wokingham at the moment - so decided to book a hotel room for tomorrow night. Don't fancy travelling back from Wokingham to Frome in rush hour traffic with the potential of heavy snow :-)

Best post of the day, from no accumulation to up to 10cm on higher ground.  This could well be amber if this firms up later today as 4inch in the UK causes proper road issues, especially sticky wet snow. boooooom

When looking at the South-West region on this alert, it's split into 2 parts,

    1. Cornwall and Devon

    2. Bath and North East Somerset, Bournemouth, Bristol, Devon, Dorset, Gloucestershire, North Somerset, Poole, Somerset, South Gloucestershire, Swindon, Torbay, Wiltshire

The 10cms "at this stage" only applies to Cornwall and Devon,

  3. My lovely local weather station www.southamptonweather.co.uk reckons we have a 40% chance of some wet snow showers tonight. (Just shows how bad the last two winters have been that that forecast can put a smile on my face!)

Looking at the radar the ppn coming in from the North Sea over Humberside looks like it could track due South and come towards the snow-starved central south coast (please, please!)  IF those greedy beggars in the Midlands don't suck it all out of the sky... :diablo:

Netweather forecast gives me nothing, btw, so I'm not talking to them! :nonono:

I'm working in Warwick this week.... If any pass this direction I will be sure to fire them down to your neck of the woods.  :)

  4. Can you point it out on a radar screen grab for me please? I can't see where you mean? Thanks!

I'm very technically challanged :-) so not sure how to add picture attachments.

But have a look on www.raintoday.co.uk and you can see PPN building up from North Wales pushing south

    Hope this helps?

  5. Well, the wind warning is certainly valid.. Getting gusty out there. I'm off to bed - at least the cold looks here to stay for a while yet.

Did you have to shout that?! Rub it in our faces ((sob))

Was just the way it got copy and pasted - sorry, didnt mean to rub it in.....

Roll on next week then..... Hopefully things will be more positive for the South West.

  6. Yeah and some will tell you if the ppn is high enough it will lower temps. What that really means is our heavier pulses of rain will be even colder.

Was snow forecasted for Poole in your forecast? As I understand it was only the far NE of the S/W region - even this area will me marginal in my view - especially as the temps/DP seem to be on the rise....

  7. @fergieweather: W COUNTRY Re tonight, greatest risk of snow (maybe 2-5 cm in some areas) is currently assessed as #Cotswolds & upland #Wiltshire (e.g. M4)

Think we should play M4 bingo - as in how many times Ian mentions the M4 corridor on his forecast at the end of points west,,,

    I'll go with 4 times
