  1. Still raining here in frome, just the odd sleety bit nothing more :-( fickle weather,

,snowing in , caine, dorset,Poole, Swindon, Trowbridge, westbury, salisbury , surely it will start here in frome soon? Good luck to all those places where it is already, hope you get loads.

    I hope so Offerman

At the moment we're in the middle - have a look (attached)

  2. Ian F just on - cr#p with a capital C - it's more of an eastern event (of our region) and it clears away much quicker than at first forecast - graphics sh#te!

Now where's that Azores High?

Hey ho.... let's hope the SW can have someting more widespread before Spring,,,,, seems such a let down especially after the excitement last night....

Looking at the graphics think the further NE of the region "might" get 5cm, then less further SW in the region

  3. Frome stands a good chance IMO! Actually you could argue it's an upgrade for Frome, more PPN and hopefully snow for you! The models are a downgrade for Western areas ( Ie Somerset and Bristol )!

Let's see what the radar brings us anyway, as I got a feeling it's going to pan out differently again!

    Thanks AWD

Let's see what happens then :-)

So looking at the radars is the heavy PPN over the North Sea, heading past Hull due to pass through the SW?

Let's hope most if not all the SW get something tonight :good:

  4. Think it will potentialy be a "work from home day" on Friday, don't fancy driving from Frome to Bristol at 5:30am....

Quick techie question, if the winds are pulling cold air up from the south I'm surprised any snow we may have will potentialy turn back to rain (as indicated in the NAE charts Active Weather Dude posted earlier)..... I would have guessed this may have possibly been a all snow event? - As you can guess im not a weather guru...:-)

Is anyone able to explain why this may turn back to rain

    Cheers all, and GL

  5. ECM gives Eastern counties of our region hope of some snowfall over the weekend! Chiefly Glouc and Wiltshire and East Somerset!

FAX output also along the lines of something similar!

Cheers A-W-Dude, sorry silly question, but is the ECM a trusted model? Also with this potential upgrade will the warm air still push through after some frontal snow, or would the cold fight back - maybe a stalling front

    Cheers

  6. Evening All, found this link on the mod forum earlier (it's madness in there!!, so easy to get lost with all the techie stuff),

    http://www.snow-forecast.com/maps/dynamic/uk

it starts from 6am this morning, but if you go to from 144hrs through to 162hrs, looks like the SW will get a snow fest, although I have no idea at all what models these use :acute:

I'm guessing this shows the atlantic front pushing in from the west over the weekend??

Right, out to put the blanket over the windscreen 8)

  7. I am at home today. I have been signed off work with nora virus for last 2 days hench why I am stuck to this site as i have not left house since sunday!

    starting to recover now though.

Not nice, get well soon mate

Just rain in the centre of Bristol,

Wonder if Frome will experience any of the white stuff later??

  8. Just had a quick peep in the Model forum, Won't for a minute and say I understand everything that is written in there (way over my head for my limited weather knowledge), but there does seem to be alot of discussion around potentially cold weather for next week (E/NE) with possible snow for South of England....

Just wondering if anyone with more knowledge than myself has any other views on this,

I totally understand in weather terms this is well into the future etc and so much can change drinks.gif

  9. It became every bit the nowcast issue we expected based on the 00z NAE we started the morning forecasts with and for the 0600z update, we were catering for the colder 'backwash' across much of Somerset and Wilts albeit not really relevant for our forecast purposes (not significant / disruptive snow - that was always signalled, correctly, for NE Glos and NE Wilts).

Tomorrow is effectively a wet one for most (WBFL's will be above 1000m by mid afternoon across much of our region.... phew, scorchio) BUT do note the geographic caveats outlined on my blog based on the very latest UKMO assessment. Still a snow chance for some of you, but it's not a widespread one at levels <100m AMSL.

PS pls note blog was updated a few mins ago

    Cheers Ian,

Quick question if I may, but I'm sure I read somewhere on the forum that there's a possibility of the weather turning colder from Sunday onwards?? - I know in weather talk Sunday is a age away, but was wondering if you have any thoughts on this?

    Thanks as always
