  1. rain in the centre of brizzle - but feeling very cold wallbash.gif

Just seen this on another forum, any ideas if this will include the south-west???whistling.gif

"well good afternoon merry xmas all well looking at the gfs and looking deep in fantasy land its looking very wintry next week good job the u.k. on holiday what i can see we going to get some very low temps next week and plenty of the white stuff as well "

  2. ppn heading towards Bristol (around Yeovil, Wells) looks like mixture of sleet, freezing rain and snow - You never know - might just make it to Bristol as snow. 06z gfs show 850s of -2 / -4 and current temp - 1 / dp - 1.5

All a bit marginal, but snow cover could help.

    Could get lucky?

Damn - where in Bristol are you Mullender?

Me personally am in the centre of Bristol - no rain here. Still cold

  3. Just with regards to the radar, February was a little different in that the band that gave the most snowfall (the second one if I remember right!) was less broken up than the one on the radar now, and more intense. However it wasn't as cold, and it was also considered marginal in terms of prediction. I guess the band coming our way hasn't properly made land yet as there is more out to sea so here's hoping. If you haven't got the 5 min radar, get a months subscription it's only £4! well worth it.

cheers Wolf, I will look into the radar subscription - cheersrolleyes.gif

  4. I just stepped outside after that freezing rain and it's like an ice rink now, really bad and the air ambulance just flew over and can hear it hovering near by, roads must be awful.

Temps still holding at -3 and a few more showers just approaching from my south.

how are those showers looking (look red on raintoday) - is it snow whistling.gif - guessing either freezing rain or plain old normal rain diablo.gif

  5. Yes i am, on raintoday radar there is ment to be snow falling now but there isnt, those showers suddenly jolted NW from exeter and all its produced was very light rain for like 2 mins.

Lovely part of the country Barnstaple, my Mum moved down there a few years ago, really nice part of the world. Bet it's snowing on the link road from Barnstaple to the M5 mellow.gif - I know when I left last Sunday afternoon is was raining in Barnstaple but snowing on the link road - just past the South Moulton roundabout if I remember right.

Does seem it will be rain I think for most of the South West today/evening. Think the midlands could get a decent pasting tonight. But who knows - the snow gods may give us some unknw.gif

  6. What's the latest on the potential snow on the night 23rd/24th? Looks like it will be rain to me. Anyone else have any ideas?

I personally think rain as well, but just had a gander at Metcheck and they have the following for BA11 (my local postcode for Frome - Somerset/Wiltshire borders) - basically snow showers, then sleet before turning back to snow.

  7. Morning. Some nice showers of hail approaching from the west. This region (Bristol, Norh Somerset, Somerst) might see something from these.

Morning, yeah these showers do look good, and what they guys are saying Devon they seem to be producing the white stuff, but not to sure if these will slip south of Bristol?

  8. i dont want to rub it in but its heavier and the flakes r big too, your only what 10 mile west of me i will put my fan on and blow it your way.

scrub that its really heavy nowwhistling.gif

    fromeydrinks.gif

Fromey what part of Frome are you in? I'm half way between Sainsburys and Asda's and the snow here is very light, I'll be surprised if there's more than 1cm about the same as last night, so no real increase from where I am??

  9. Are we gonna see any snow over Wiltshire????

South West England: Bath + NE Somerset Bristol Gloucestershire N Somerset S Gloucestershire Somerset Swindon WiltshireHeavy Snow1500 Mon 210600 Tue 22Rain and sleet will turn increasingly to snow as it spreads northwards across many southern and eastern parts of England during Monday afternoon and Monday night. There will be accumulations of 2 to 5 cm of fresh snow in many areas, with up to 10 cm likely in places, especially on higher ground.

The public are advised to take extra care and refer to the 'Highways Agency' for further advice on traffic disruption on motorways and trunk roads.

  10. Evening All, was driving back from Barnstaple (see family) went through some decent snow showers on the A361 (Barnstaple to M5), then coming through Mere to Frome there was a further decent snow shower approaching Frome (approx 20:00) that left a nice dusting.

Been reading with interest about further showers coming in from the Bristol channel, would anyone know if these will lead to much around Frome area (15miles south of Bath) - as I need to travel in from Frome to Bristol tomorrow AM - leaving about 05:30am?
