Looks like the PPN is just skipping to the west of my back yard, looks like Bridgewater, Taunton, Yeovil could do well (fingers crossed)
GL All......
Also just looked at the 18Z - WOW...... Let's see......

Yes this area of showers are starting to get a little wider ,but my biggest worry is what will it do when it hits s wales . if it does make it into our kneck of the woods i think we could see wintryness even down to say 120 mtrs in heavier bursts .things still looking good for thurs /friday one to watch .following 24hrs very criticall as i feel we are aprox now 72 hrs from possible action .hoping for a good fax tonight and a good update tomorrow .cheers gang ,looks like system is slowing down a little but we should know come 11pm ish ,[im refering to showers now approaching .
DOH - I need to find a 14mtr ladder
-
I understand, it must be a very tough job. Would love to see snow here, its so rare. When someone forecasts i get very excited . Do you think
i am in with a realistic chance of a good snowfall ?
I'm no pro, but if the 12Z verifies, then the entire SW would see snow this coming Friday I would guess,
Maybe with someone more exp may give a more accurate answer :-)
-
That streamer looks heavy and intense but quite narrow so its going to be luck who gets it...
Yeah, seems to be gaining some intensity, looking at the current path I would guess it will be west of my location, but will be interesting as you've said for some people.....

Im glad someone posted this. He said last week that saturday night would see some snow to the north of here up in Somerset. And possible Sunday.
He then mentioned bothersome snow for today. And we've had none. Its been rain showers this evening, so i feel a bit let down. Tonight he mentions more
troublesome snow on Friday. Are we going to see any snow between now and fridays snow storm ?
Ian F can only present on what information the models give/show him, and he also mentioned a degree of uncertainty. Also as many people on the NW forums, snow is difficult to predict, no one can be 100% correct all of the time..... I'm looking forward to see how the models develop over the next few days... Should be interesting to say the least

Not good for us here in frome, all petering out on the radar and moving around us. I expect nothing this evening now and rain tomorrow as NBC forecast. Maybe hope in the week?
Hi Offerman,
Maybe some hope for Frome, check Raintoday, has Frome for snowgrains at 21:00, then light snow for 22:00
-
Looking at Raintoday it does seem alot of the PPN fizzling out across the Bristol Channel, but there does seem to be a more PPN building up behind that,
So some may get lucky with a few flakes?
Interestingly Raintoday has Frome (IMBY) down for Snowgrains from 20:00..... let's see
-
I've been using will it rain today for ages! Good site
But I'm confused about the other one, where does it say height?
Try this for height, seems to work OK
Use this to look up the latitude and longitude of your address:
http://www.gpsvisualizer.com/geocode
Then, using the latitude and longitude, use this tool to find the altitude:
-
snow flakes 75% now in any PPn falling some big flakes mixed in there still rain also.
mid hampshire. wish i was 100mtr higher!
Wish I was 100 miles East
-
Snowing in Radstock now with a slushy covering forming on cars and window ledges. Temperature 1.3C and falling.
Just rain in Frome at the moment, but getting closer I hope, seeing that it's snowing in Radstock, only a few miles up the road.....
-
I'm afraid I have to disagree
@fergieweather: "@metofficeSWEng: Yellow Alert of Snow for SW England : Gloucestershire valid from 1500 Sun 13 Jan to 2355 Sun 13 Jan http://t.co/2Xx2iwvl"
Would be nice to see the Yellow Alert extended for further parts of the SW, rather than the further NE point for our region, still time I guess??
-
Right, this is what we need to do to get the models to push further west....
Everyone get positioned in a "virtual circle", hold your virtual partners hand to your left, and your virtual partners wrist to the right,
And then, everyone together shout "WEST IS BEST" for 5 mins,,,,
I think doing this we will see any decent shift to the west in the next model runs
Now where did I put my pint of Black Rat
-
I'm hoping the 12Z shunts everything westwards and wipes the smiles of the SE forum, now that would make my day
-
Long way off I know and totally unpredictable, but if you get a chance have a look at the GFS from +162 to +186

Hi Fromey and prophecyman, here is a pic i just took
Excellent pic - cheers..... But how weird is that.... I must live 2 miles the over side of town and nothing at all..... Really really strange :-)
-
Very strange. I le work about 6 down in frome, nothing there but fog and ice on windscreen. Going home, just past hospital and up by leisure centre up hill and completely white. Heavy fine snow since and everything covered nice n white. I remember we had this for 5day and night streak in 2010 and ended up with 2.5cm of fine snow just from the fog yet bottom of frome had nothing. Amazing the local differences in our weather here.will posta pic when my son gone to sleep.
Totally agree, very strange..... Fromey posted a pic earlier with "snizzle" on his car (somewhere near the rugby club), but where I am (just off Locks Hill), there's nothing at all......
-
really, just taken a pic of the car with a very fine dusting on.
fromey
Nah, nothing at all (just off Locks Hill) - just got back from the car, as I just put some towels over the windscreen...... Weird how it can "snizzle" in some parts but not other parts of one town.....
-
evening all
just looked out to find heavy snizzle falling, temp now -1.7c.
i wouldnt have thought the temp would keep falling.
fromey
No "snizzle" in my part of Frome...... But very cold.... Not looking forward to the drive into Bristol tomorrow morning at 6am, especially with no heater in the car.....
-
Morning, i was really surprised by that, perhaps a bit of a frost hollow, so you could probably knock about 0.5c off, but yes it did drop very rapidly last light after the initial problem of not getting below 0c.
im hoping for a few flakes but thats it really.
still frosty here and now thick fog -1.5c
fromey
fromey
Cheers Fromey, good to know when driving home later on from Bristol....Guess the fog will only get more dense as they day goes on?
-
Its snowing right now in Melksham, Wiltshire. According to the BBC News channel.
LOL that was a snow machine outside someones house showing off his Christmas lights.....
-
slight drizzle at the moment in Frome, what frost we did have on the kitchen roof has now vanished.....
-
Stopped snowing in Frome, but a wonderful surprise when opening the curtains earlier.
-
Snowing in Frome, sure I heard heavy rain earlier this morning, now is settling on roofs,, grass - but not roads....
Sure there was possible hint that was highlighted on Thursday, but dismissed on Friday after the latest NAE was consulted...
Any ideas how long this will last for??
Nice surprise though.....

Fair point I guess, but if this was the case I would have also expected the METO to widen their Yellow alerts for this Friday??
