  1. A very useful idea-particularly with the way unexpected storms developed over my way on Sunday before tracking NE towards others like Chaser.
  2. Lot's of rain last night and showers first thing. After mid morning it's been sunny but unusually windy :!: Tops today of 20c.
  3. Totally peculiar sky. Looking at the 20:00 radar I am in the dry middle of a rain triangle :? It rained heavily for about an hour after my previous post. The cloud in this dry zone is grey, not thick but not showing any clearance either. The peculiar part is that the cloud seems to run in wavy lines from South-North. Can't recall seeing anything like this before. The next part of the triangle should be here soon though. Not any wind.
  4. Clear and sunny through till 16:30 ish but is now very cloudy ahead of the rain band which is just giving some spots. Tops today of 19c but of course at this time of the year the sun is very strong so it felt hot.
  5. Just stopped raining and is clearing after a period of torrential rain and at least 2 thunderstorms in my area (see storm sightings forum) Had been a beautiful morning.
  6. I had a day in Southampton today visiting my bro who works on the QE2. It was beautiful there this afternoon after a misty morning. Was probably fine at home but is now very cloudy and threatening ahead of tonights action. An exciting forecast to come home to. Looking on the tv forecast it seems the storms will be to the East/SE of the warm front. Currently 16c.
  7. Had the first "Proper" rain of the week this morning and through till about 1:30. It really was quite heavy for a few hours. Cleared to a sunny late afternoon and evening. 19c max.
  8. It seems to have been almost identical everywhere today. Sunny and breezy in Wiltshire with tops around 19-20c
  9. The rain went either side of Westbury again today. Few showers around this evening otherwise been a fine day with some warm sun. Max was 19c
  10. I thought we'd get rain today but it's missed Westbury totally. Mid morning -lunchtime was beautiful, sunny and warm but afternoon has been mostly cloudy. 21c tops, 15c now.
  11. The cold front brought really major conditions to me-NOT :x - drizzle for about half hour then it cleared to a fine warm and sunny day, though breezy and certainly fresher. Tops of 22c this afternoon.
  12. I'm more optimistic now as it's overcast and the radar shows things closer however I feel my previous post about things going East of Salisbury Plain may still prove correct.
  13. Sunday afternoon in Wiltshire is very steamy after light showers in the last hour or so. 21c, quite cloudy but bright with some blue patches. Will any storms come this far west :?: Quite often in such weather they go the other side of Salisbury Plain.
  14. Are there any showers over Britain at present? I'm now fed up with the BBC radar as it is stuck on 1600 and running 6 hours as starting at 0400 this morning jumping hours and ending at 1600 :!: That's 12 hours :!: In such possible shower/storm situs as this a 3 hour old radar is useless :? I can still see the top of a huge looking cloud far NE of me-here it is sunny with cirrus but feeling a bit fresher than I thought it would. Still 22c and hit 26.5c max this afternoon.
  15. Still clear and sunny and now 25c :!: No sign of cumulus development as in previous days at this time.
  16. I'm able to say that my new max/min thermometer is working excellently! Just reset it for today with a max recorded of 26c yesterday and a min overnight of 13c. Currently clear and sunny and 19c.
  17. Hot,humid and sunny spells. Cumulus building all around especially some large looking clouds over Salisbury Plain. 24c shade, 27c sun trap patio as the sun is behind a cloud.
  18. Been mostly clear and sunny in Wiltshire today. Not sure of temp but I have today bought a min/max thermometer that I will put up IN THE SHADE in my garden. Saw some strange clouds at lunchtime (see message I'm just going to post in Qand A section) Now a hazy warm evening with some largeish cumulus (shows potential for tomorrow)
  19. Yawn it's really boring today cloudy, drizzly drifing from Bristol Channel direction no wind humid even oppressive feel with the moisture 17c at present
  20. I am posting here following a personal request from Chaser UK. Sorry, to be honest I didn't know of this extra board but having now joined hopefully it will prove valuable. So to reiterate my sighting posted on Saturday evening in the Storm Chase section ... ...between 6:45 and 6:50pm I witnessed the formation and dissipation of 2 funnel clouds to the East of my position. The first one reached about a quarter of the way down, bent in the middle and as it was going the second one formed and did the same. Overhead there was a wall like cloud and mammatus. In the next half hour winds went from North-South and back to North borne out by rain falling on windows on 3 sides of my house!
  21. A rather boring day in comparison to yesterday! Sunny spells and light showers, briskish breeze, pleasant temp.
  22. Everyone, Please see my new message just posted in storm chasing-I've had more Sat evening luck :!:
  23. Some great cumulonimbus developed over Wiltshire this morning blotting out in just over an hour what was an almost clear sky- seemed to be slowly drifting E-SE. Only had steady rain showers in Westbury until now when the first real downpour has arrived. Hopefully some action this afternoon :?:
  24. Westbury, Wilts... ...sunny start heavy showers and great cloud set ups now very sunny here but massive cumulonimbus to the north looks amazing next to the blue sky-anvils present.

    Unexpected CB on Easter Sunday

I went out for a walk to primarily take photos of the sun setting, however my attention became dominated by an unexpected CB to the SW.
