  1. Big pink blob over the Cotswolds - not foggy here just thick frost, could be a good morning to visit the Christmas tree plantation
  2. The sign pretty much sums up the last 5 hours of my day “Arctic” ! We still have thick frost where the sun hasn’t been, so at least the ground is white and it looks pretty - I’m going to sit in a hot bath with a mug of mulled wine until I thaw out, fabulous time at the Red Bull Homerun though but even with thermals & ski wear it was tough standing around but worth it
  3. Very cold but thankfully bright mornings here in MK -it’s the Red Bull Racing home run event so here until 3pm
  4. Well I certainly can’t feel much….in the words of Shakespeare himself it’s “barren winter, with his wrathful nipping cold:” here in Stratford
  5. Currently thawing out in the pub (second visit today but I did go to church between times, I kid you not) “What freezings have I felt”
  6. Well it’s not her “big” coat (yet) but thanks for your more informative forecast, although I am intrigued to know why on earth pizzas are having a crisis?
  7. What a treat to wake up to this…the first proper frost of the winter and hearing the unfamiliar sound of windscreens being scraped
  8. Looking through some old photos this evening, hopefully I’ll get chance to get out there take some more soon - something so magical about walking in a winter wonderland
  9. I'm looking forward to getting some nice wintry photos like this one taken on the Woburn Estate when there was a splendid Hoar frost!
  10. Lots of really big fireplaces and an endless supply of wood I’m looking forward to the crisp frosty mornings, as you say very mild so far - hopefully I’ve not jinxed us but new snow boots have been purchased, I take full responsibility for any down grades, but don’t worry I’ll hold off ordering the snowmobile (for now anyway)
  11. A rather chilly visit to Wimpole Hall today, warmed up with a tasty Christmas lunch, but you can already feel the effects of the incoming polar air
  12. So do I I’ve just purchased new snow boots
  13. All good thanks, even covid didn’t manage to finish me off Dull as dishwater here today - bring on the cold bright days - meantime Christmas decs are up and I’m off to a carol concert
  14. Exactly Let’s hope we can arrange one to compare snow levels, I didn’t have to buy a new one btw I’ve found the extra long one (last used in 2010) in the bottom of a drawer - bin lids at the ready Floaty !
  15. Well hello SE & EA gang….I’m back !! Looks a bit different in here but it’s been a while since I stuck my head round the door! I hope everyone enjoyed the record breaking hot summer. Could this winter be the new coldest…”The Big Freeze of 2010” will take some beating for snow here but let’s see ️
  16. Feeling very grateful and pleased with what we received here - We've been out and about all morning and it's certainly got folks out in the fresh air !
  17. Are you sure it wasn't a low flying bap, possibly from a neighbours BBQ ? Lovely day here, hopefully there will be several weeks of summer left to enjoy :-)
  18. It is with the deepest regret that I have to inform you our dear friend and weather buddy Chris Mantle lost his short battle with cancer and passed away last night. Chris was a big part of our community on the SE & EA thread, for those of us that had the pleasure of meeting him in person at our regional get together events know he was a true gentleman, although some of us have moved on from Netweather I thought I would share the sad news as I'm sure there are still many here who will remember him fondly - RIP Chris x
  19. No T&L but we had a hefty shower of graupel here earlier - exploded on impact with the ground so was quite exciting while it lasted !
  20. Dry and sunny here with just a touch of frost (enough to need de-icer on the car windscreen though)
  21. Feeling rather relieved.... survived the killer smog (http://www.express.co.uk/news/nature/564873/Toxic-smog-UK-health-warning-alert-asthma-attacks-heart-problems-sore-throats-itchy-eyes) .....and the end of days eclipse (http://www.express.co.uk/news/nature/565155/Solar-eclipse-britain-religion-end-of-world) .....even managed to get a few photos (without going blind despite not wearing 'special' glasses) while eating Jaffa Cakes and singing Bonnie Tyler....... ....happy days
