  1. I know it's not really weather related but as your such a lovely bunch of people and this mouse was lost in Essex let's see if we can help him get home, he must be really missing his human companion.... Please contact me if you have lost this mouse https://www.facebook.com/nicola.palmer.370
  2. It was in Northern Chilie Grace - you can read all about it here..... http://forum.netweather.tv/topic/47470-earthquake-activity-thread/page-88#entry2953085 This might be more 'in your back yard' though if your lucky..... http://www.netweather.tv/index.cgi?action=convective%3Bsess%3Db8f09079eaf8336b8b09f58ce1d05579
  3. The magnitude-8.2 megathrust earthquake which struck late on Tuesday off the coast of northern Chile was at a depth of 6 miles and initially rated as a magnitude 8.0, occurred at 4:47 p.m. PDT, according to the United States Geological Survey. Three strong aftershocks, magnitudes 6.2, 5.8 and 5.5, respectively, have been reported since the major quake. The 8.2 quake was the result of a megathrust between the Nacza and South America plates near the Chilean coast, the USGS said on its website. The website also showed more than two dozen aftershocks ranging from magnitudes of 4.7 to 6.2. U.S. officials were analyzing the possible tsunami threat to Hawaii and the West Coast. 4. That's putting it mildly compared to the Daily Excess headline : "DEADLY POLLUTION WARNING FOR NEXT 24 HOURS"... https://www.express.co.uk/news/nature/468085/Return-of-the-KILLER-SMOG-Worst-pollution-in-60-YEARS-to-strike-Britain-TOMORROW The "KILLER-SMOG" is here ......I can just about see it though my Saharan dust covered windows, so I won't be going outside today not because I think I might die but because I won't be able to resist saying 'I told you so' to my neighbour who washed his car yesterday only for it to be covered in sand again this morning (I did tell him not to bother for a couple more days but some people just don't listen ) Pollution levels will be high for parts of England and Wales, but not quite to the extreme extent that the media are portraying...... http://rtlec.co.uk/killer-smog-coming-your-way-and-the-government-doesnt-want-you-to-know/ The very young and elderly, and especially people with respiratory and heart problems should take care, and if you use an inhaler then you need to make sure you have it with you but for the majority of people the poor air quality will have little effect as this is a short lived event with pollution levels decreasing from tomorrow! The DEFRA website has the latest information on air quality – http://uk-air.defra.gov.uk/forecasting/
  5. Morning all, Hazy here - could be fog or maybe lunar dust ? http://www.netweather.tv/index.cgi?action=news%3Bstoryid%3D5785%3Bsess%3D#.Uzp1NU5lRdg.facebook Closer to home we find out today if MK is getting a rugbyabout .... Milton Keynes Council is planning to transform the well known Roman roundabout on the V7 into the shape of a rugby ball, creating a brand new ‘rugbyabout’ in celebration of 18 months to go until Rugby World Cup 2015 comes to the borough. MK is one of 13 Match Venues for Rugby World Cup 2015 following a joint bid made by Milton Keynes Council, MK Dons and other city partners. Three matches will take place at stadiummk, close to the proposed rugbyabout, in October 2015. If approved at a special council meeting today the work to transform the rugbyabout would take place from October 2014, lasting approximately 13 weeks during which time traffic would be redirected via local roads and the A5. There are more than 50 major roundabouts in Milton Keynes, the vast majority of which follow the traditional circular shape. It is thought the V7 rugbyabout would be the first full rugby ball shape roundabout to be built in the UK. The council is also considering new planting options for the centre of the rugbyabout, potentially including rugby posts, a life size model of England rugby hero Jonny Wilkinson, and flower stock in the colours of the England, Scotland, Wales and Irish teams. Leader of Milton Keynes Council, Cllr Andrew Geary said: “We converted this junction a couple of years ago, and these have made a big improvement, but with Rugby World Cup 2015 coming we recognise the need to make a few more changes, and once again we are trying an innovative and exciting design which I am told by the highway engineers will ensure traffic can tackle this junction without the sort of collisions we are expecting on the rugby pitch.â€
  6. Something to do with the Camels maybe ? ....no Sahara sand on my car.....just some bird poop - I wouldn't mind but it was washed yesterday Graphic from Windy Wilson's Twitter page showing the extent of Saharan dust currently in the air over the UK being brought northward by south/south easterly winds. Some of this likely to fall to the surface in any showers over the next few days. https://twitter.com/WindyWilson88/status/450564714141974528/photo/1 ...makes a change from rain I suppose.....happy Monday

    Dunstable Downs

Extensive chalk and grassland Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty Soar above a breathtaking landscape, sculpted over time, decorated by nature and enjoyed by generations. Stand on top of Dunstable Downs for a view that will simply take your breath away. These Sites of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI) are designated for the quality of their chalk grasslands. As well as two Scheduled Ancient Monuments (Five Knolls and Medieval Rabbit Warrens) there are many other historical features and the site has much to offer you. The chalk grasslands of the Downs have miles of footpaths and several circular walks, a fascinating history and an abundance of plants and wildlife. Dunstable Downs is within the Chilterns Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB) and the highest point in Bedfordshire. The wind-swept ridge provides ideal conditions for a variety of air sports, especially kite flying. On calmer days it's the ideal site to enjoy the view and a picnic.

  20. Whatever the weather it never seems to be kind to commuters; Five railway substations were on fire yesterday evening after a lightning strike near Folkestone in Kent. Firefighters tackled the flames along the line from Dover priory to Sandling station. Eurostar passengers were delayed following the bolt which caused a fire at a building close to the entrance to the Channel Tunnel, which in turn caused overhead electrical power losses near Ashford, Kent leaving hundreds of passengers facing long delays due to signalling problems…….. must have been the wrong kind of lightning
  21. Just a few more hours work to get through for me and then hopefully a nice sunny and relaxing weekend to look forward to, much as I hope this spring is the prequel to a lovely hot summer I don't go along with this..... http://rtlec.co.uk/120-days-of-hot-sun-britain-will-bake-in-longest-summer-for-100-years-say-forecasters/ .......typical of the media sensationalist scaremongering headlines which I think most of us know better than to believe…. the hottest summer ever, yea right no doubt followed by another 100 days of snow, either way we will either fry or freeze to death
