  1. Hopefully the cloud will become less of an issue over the next few days for those of us who have been unlucky enough to be plagued by this. Patchy cloud and some morning mist and fog patches in places may linger near the coasts but overall sunny spells should be more widespread and the temperatures will respond during the afternoons across many inland areas with highs widely in the mid to low teens…. Images are from NW’s NMM model showing the daily maximum temperatures.

  6. Afternoon all, Many happy returns and best wishes to all those with birthday’s, job interviews or anyone who just needs a bit of good luck today I was hoping the sun would break through by lunchtime here but it’s still very overcast in MK – we seem to be stuck under this mass of stubborn low cloud…… This is a surface pressure chart for tomorrow showing the high pressure across the UK…… ...but having high pressure (anticyclone) does not always mean warm and sunny, troublesome cloud is the bane of forecasting in a high as explained here in Jo Farrow’s latest blog…… http://www.netweather.tv/index.cgi?action=news;storyid=5728;sess= For anyone interested in learning how to read a surface pressure chart this Met Office handy guide might help….. http://bit.ly/1h9eRyT
  7. Slightly off topic but as the lovely weather and the drier ground conditions are more favourable for long dog walks I thought I'd pass this information on - Salcey Forest is somewhere I often walk so hopefully it will prevent any K9's coming into unnecessary contact with this ..... Milton Keynes Veterinary Group ***Confirmed case of 'Alabama Rot' in Northamptonshire*** Towcester Veterinary Centre have had a confirmed case of 'Alabama Rot' The dog in question lived and was walked almost exclusively in Salcey Forest, Northamptonshire. The Forestry Commission have been contacted and made aware of the case and are putting signs up warning dog owners immediately. file:///C:/Documents%20and%20Settings/Admin/My%20Documents/Downloads/Alabama%20Rot%202014_03_10_for%20vets.pdf
  8. Actually no....it's just your the only one to mention it I had to take two when I first glanced at it .......I thought it looked like dog poo too (that is what you meant isn't it ?)
  9. Looks like you guys on the Cornish coast are going to need a bigger boat... Lydia the Great White shark headed for the UK is getting even closer.... http://www.ocearch.org/profile/lydia/
  10. Morning all, Hope everyone is well… MK seems to be stuck under the cloud from this frontal system at the moment, I'm not sure if it’s going to break up and allow us to see the sunshine here today or if we are going to stay cloudy all day, it’s certainly not looking like it will produce much if anything by way of rain so that is something I suppose but after such a sunny weekend it’s looking and feeling very Monday morningish here (and I'm working until 6pm tonight – BOO !!)
  11. Hope you've all had a good weekend and managed to relax and enjoy a bit of sunshine .. ...a leisurely walk.... ...maybe a swim .... ....seen the spring flowers.... ....or something that made you smile .... ...or even jump for joy !!! ... ... It's been wonderful here in the Cotswolds :-)
  12. Sounds like a very good idea Steve - and I totally agree with Tamara's comment that it's time to move on from the issues some people have had with past happenings on here and their ongoing attempts to cause problems for some of us, for those of you lucky enough to have escaped the rumours and troublemakers then your well out of it - let's leave it all behind and get this regional forum back to the friendly place it's always been (welcome Daniel) and not let the minority spoil things for the majority of us who just want to talk about the weather and other friendly chat and banter !
  13. Lovely here in the Cotswolds (apart from the lack of phone signal and no wi FI) we certainly can't fault the weather - seen some signs of flooding, sandbags and flood warning signs still in place but hopefully things will get back to normal for the main tourist season - feeling very relaxed and lucky to have been out in the fresh air and sunshine all day with Mr P visiting such pretty places :-)
  14. Sky map is a brilliant app - just point the iPad or iPhone at the sky and it tells you what your looking at !!https://itunes.apple.com/gb/app/sky-map/id536492883?mt=8
  15. Chilly here tonight - the temperature not dinner (chilli night was Tuesday) - put some curry sauce on your chips Mick !! I think that star might be Jupiter.... .....make a wish anyway, you never know it might work :-)
  16. Just when you thought it was safe to go back in the water... Lydia, a satellite-tagged 15ft, 2,000lb great white, is currently 1,000 miles from the coast of Cornwall and Ireland http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sciencetech/article-2575601/Is-great-white-shark-heading-BRITAIN-Killer-fish-spotted-just-1-000-miles-Cornish-coast-arrive-3-DAYS.html
  17. Woo hoo …… it’s Friday its 2 O’clock and it’s POETS’s day….. the weather is looking good for the weekend, it’s already 15.2 °C here since the sky cleared and sun came out it’s been a lovely afternoon Whatever plans you have for this weekend I hope you all get out and enjoy the fresh air and the spring sunshine…have a good one
  18. This morning’s light and patchy rain should be the last precipitation for at least a week for many of us in this region, it seems to be clearing here already and the sun is trying to poke through the cloud.. I personally can’t wait for the weekend and the warm, dry and sunny weather to go with it, temperatures will still be low at night though with clear skies bringing the risk of some frost and fog patches. Images from the NMM model….. Top left image - Saturday morning's minimum temperatures Top middle - Sunday morning's minimum temperatures Top right - Monday morning's minimum temperatures Bottom left - Tuesday morning's minimum temperatures Bottom middle - Wednesday morning's minimum temperatures Bottom right - Thursday morning's minimum temperatures
  19. I'm here (now )...... you are probably right Mick everyone must be out and about enjoying the sunshine today like the squirrels in St James' park ..According to the daily mail forecasters are predicting that much of southern England could bask in temperatures of up to 18C (62.6F) at the weekend....... that's jinxed it then *rolls eyes*
  20. Morning all, Slightly overcast this morning with a light breeze feeling milder than recent mornings. Channel 4 documentary ‘The Floods That Foiled New Year’ is on tonight (Thursday 6th March), at 9pm.
  21. You know how some peoples pets look a bit like them well this bird... wanted to look like her bird ..... :-) Slightly off topic so I better add it's chilly here tonight or someone might ruffle my feathers !
  22. Nice to see so many birds and insects enjoying the sunshine including a parakeet...... This pretty fella was sat in a tree picking at the blossom flowers in Battersea park today !
  23. https://www.rspb.org.uk/wildlife/birdguide/name/b/buzzard/index.aspx What ever it was it's nice to see it soaring against a blue sky and obviously making the most of some thermals! 12 degrees C and high pressure of 1021.44 (Rising 0.27 mb/hr) here - wonderful
  24. ..defiantly a bird and not a plane ........seriously though it's some sort of bird of prey, if not a Buzzard then an Eagle or a Red Kite
  25. A very welcome change after weeks of lows…. http://www.metoffice.gov.uk/weather/uk/observations/ Met O showing the SE seeing 1020 + hPa and rising
