  1. Thanks to all of you above for your posts (especially the recently converted AJPoolshark ) It's always good to have feedback both positive and negative as it helps the team build a better picture of what people want to see on the forum, as I said we can't please all of the people all of the time but we do try to give all members somewhere they are comfortable posting, hence the existance 0f the regional and less technical threads. Hopefully everyone is clearer now about what to expect when reading (and posting in) this thread so let's have a nice new one to continue our weather related discussions and friendly chatter .... link to follow....
  2. Maybe that's because his profile picture was taken 20 years ago *runs* Sorry Tomasino you know I'm only kidding - a very happy birthday to Antony, I know how proud you are of him and Hayley :-) It's a bit foggy here in MK - hopefully it will clear by the time we go out, I'm taking Mr P to the physiotherapist later this morning !
  3. The regional forums were set up for members talk about the weather in their area and how it's affecting their life - if that means taking about getting the washing dry, mowing the lawn or our small furry creatures then so be it - I'm sorry if the general chit chat of this thread isn't to your liking but if you would prefer not to read these kind of posts then maybe this isn't the right part of the forum for you and all I can suggest is you visit here....http://forum.netweather.tv/topic/79850-friday-28th-march-general-weather-chat/......weather stats can be posted in the daily general weather chat thread perhaps that would be more to your liking ? The forum team do our very best to make sure all members can enjoy using Netweather and try very hard to provide something for everyone but obviously you can't please all of the people all of the time !
  4. Just had one giant clap of thunder - but unlike earlier is accompaniment is torrential rain not hail, it's certainly been an eventful day here !
  5. Being Bletchley they probably all ran for cover in Cash Converters or one of the many charity shops The hailstones didn't do much for the spring flowers - they took a bit of a battering still the parks trust have planted over 200,000 bulbs here in the last 7 years .... http://www.theparkstrust.com/about-us/media-centre/post/371-a-host-of-golden-daffodils
  6. Woo Hoo !! Lightning, Thunder and Hail action here in MK Mahoosive clap of thunder as I took this !
  7. Excellent, I'd rather look forward to summer now than back to a winter that never was, I still feel a bit cheated about not getting the 100 days of snow though, and I've missed silly things like watching the outside broadcasts with reporters in remote 'snowed in' locations - at least there has been plenty of action on the other side of the pond to keep me entertained .......it's started to rain here now, typically when I was just thinking about going out to get some lunch !
  8. I've really missed driving in the snow ....I think it's great especially at night ...... I'm having a bit of a paperwork/admin day here what with end of financial year coming up and all that .... I don't think I'm missing much weather wise though it looks a bit like dirty dish water out there at the moment, there was a light frost first thing and it was slightly misty late last night .....I'm so looking forward to a day off and a sunny Sunday
  9. I'm surprised it's April ......I thought it was still March !! :-)Clocks change on Sunday
  10. Great to see you back in here Tamara, I hope everything is going well for you, Shadow certainly looks at home in his new crate A few more 'wintery' mixes by way of precipitation here during the afternoon, mostly wet and cold stuff anyway - thankfully it's not going to be like this at the weekend as I've been planning a yomp and was rather hoping not to get the walking boots (or the rest of me) too muddy......Steve C you will be pleased to know I have been watching on line tutorials on how not to jump over muddy puddles just in case
  11. Afternoon all (and Hi-Di-Hi to BlueBlazer54 ) It's been a busy couple of days here in fact yesterday was ‘Non Stop’ with Liam Neeson (and Mr P) in Cineworld followed by some time with Frankie and Benny and a cinnamon maple waffle I'm still keeping one eye on the weather though and some heavy showers coming off the North Sea have been affecting the region... looks like there has been some hail mixed in with them as well as some sleet and possibly snow in places, thanks to 'Evaporative cooling' where it’s heavy enough to drag down the cold air aloft to the surface which makes it easier for the precipitation to stay as snow the whole way down. Just had a nice little covering of grauple here (is it to late for the snow cup?) A chilly 5 deg c here now but looks like it will be warming up nicely for Mother's Day Sunday….. Monday may be warmer still, we could perhaps hit 21-22 degrees in parts of this region….
  12. They are fine - I've had contact with both of them today, I'm sure they will be posting again soon but each of them have got various other things going on in their lives, but they both appreciate the concern and folk asking about them :-)
  13. The sunshine is giving the plants a gorgeous silvery sheen in the Ouzel Valley Park today ...
  14. Morning all, Lovely bright sunshine with the remnants of last night’s frost lingering in the shady places, looks like we have the three C's ......Chilly, Calm and Clear....have a nice day
  15. Spring is like a box of chocolates .....you never know what your going to get :-)
  16. I'm wondering how that happened too - did the pub run out of beer Steve ? At least my fall only involved brambles and not barbed wire - it was lucky I had spare clothes though or they would never have let me in the pub, I certainly managed to get wetter and muddier than you did that day Some very bright sunshine here in MK with fast moving clouds but as yet no showers, I managed a lovely 2 hour walk this morning, totally mud and incident free Hope everyone is having a nice weekend - Mr P can see again as we collected his replacement glasses yesterday, just waiting for the physio to mend his shoulder now and all will be good again !
  17. Haha that brings back happy memories of a very muddy walk we shared - did you have to leave the muddy boots outside the pub again ?
  18. Lucky you :-) the only thunder and lightning we have here in MK are the ice hockey teams !
  19. Morning all you lovely people and happy birthday to Luke :-) What a nice surprise to wake up to clear blue sky and strong sunshine - have a great POETS day - it's actually world poetry day today !
  20. I think the mirror have used all of the above - Where is AJPS when you need him :-) "Spring may have sprung but wintry weather is back with showers and even SNOW"http://www.mirror.co.uk/news/uk-news/uk-weather-showers-snow-expected-3266213 If only you was in Scotalnd, the Pennines or the Welsh mountains you might get lucky !!
  21. The sun came out earlier just as I left for the bank so on my drive back I stopped off at the Peace Pagoda by Willen Lake for a bit of mind clearing and ‘meditation’ – I realised it was the Vernal Equinox as well as International Day of Happiness (also day 6 of my #100daysofhappiness) and came over all ‘Wordsworth’ when I saw these Daffs (they are a bit like me really, past their best but still glorious in the sunshine ) I WANDER'D lonely as a cloud That floats on high o'er vales and hills, When all at once I saw a crowd, A host of golden daffodils, Beside the lake, beneath the trees, Fluttering and dancing in the breeze. x
  22. Morning all (I think I've just about made it in time !) Massive virtual hugs to Alix (and others who are going through tough times), I think quite a few of us can empathise with what your going through at the moment with your Father, my Mom had a massive stroke 6 years ago and was left paralysed and tube fed for the two weeks she survived afterwards, it's incredibly difficult seeing someone who has always been there and looked after you laying in a hospital bed helpless and hopeless but try to cherish the time you have left and keep talking to him about happy times, I found that really helped me too as memories came back of silly things from childhood that were almost forgotten and although she couldn't communicate very well she understood what was being said - stay strong ! As for the weather, well I've been a bit busy but I managed to look out the window and it's cloudy and windy - I'm venturing out now to the bank so I'll see if I can get there and back in one piece, the way things have gone this week I'll be lucky but hopefully I'll be back later
  23. Morning all, Cloudy start here but mild and dry with quite a blustery breeze - like you Steve I'm hoping to see some sunshine later Hope you all have a good day - another busy one for me
  24. The risk of some sleet and snow is mainly but not necessarily exclusively for high ground in the north. However your right it's certainly going to be turning cooler throughout this week and by the weekend we will all be seeing single figures which will be a shock to the system after the last two lovely warm weekends. Night time temperatures are likely to plummet so I think all we will be scraping is frost off the car windscreens
