  1. Well either you inferred it or you will be able to quote a post or posts that say the region will do as well as other regions?
  2. Absolutely Blackburn often appears on the rubbish places to live listand the town centre is (or was) a bit crap, but anywhere that close to some great countryside cant be a bad place to live, same goes for Middlesbrough, if you think thats a crap place you really cant like the great outdoors.
  3. That the key for me, your last para, the green spaces and the proximity some great countryside.
  4. Yeah me to, Im not a native although lived here of 20 years. Loads going for it.
  5. Your choice entirely mate, but look at the likes for the post where I reacted to Interius, many likes, shows most on here are with you. You are expecting too much if you think the odd negative post wont appear, thats just people for you, but try to look at the majority and to me it looks like they are with you.
  6. That is what you are inferring, it is not what people are saying. Christ mate its a weather forum, the models are showing snow, and you are making out we cant be interested. Plus if I get a 2cm of snow (I wont) or if someone in Blackburn gets 8cm (they might) Why should either of us give a lemon that someone else has 2 foot. That is a very mean spirited way to look at it. If I win a million on the lottery should I not be happy because someone else won 10?
  7. Oh yes I wasnt be critical of the predictions...just that when you hear someone down the road disappointed that they may get deeper snow than we have had here in decades, it puts into perspective how snowless it is here.
  8. For some in the region easterlies are great. Now for me out on the West a big fall is incredibly unlikely, so for anyone living in those areas your get real comment would apply to every single snow forecast ever made/ i think lots of us here look at others in the N.West predicting ONLY 8cm of snow with disappointment and think...you dont know your born!
  9. I know what you mean, but two of my favourite cold memories are snowless ones, the hoar frost of Nov 2009, what a stunning morning, prettier than any snow scene. Second the ice bergs in the Ribble Dec 2010, something i never thought id see.
  10. Thats right, I keep seeing how easterlies can deliver snow to our region, very true, but not for Preston! Having said that i actually like a really cold spell, if we get ice days and some super cold nights ill e pretty happy. (while trying to ignore the snow everyone else is getting!)
  11. and yet I have a max of 3 for Preston on Monday, would that difference for Preston and Oldham be likely in this sort of set up?
  12. Interesting, every one has the snow getting to me, its close on all of them, they all get there, yet the met o graphics say dry. I know (Ive told ppl often enough) to ignore those graphics, but still striking with every model saying snow and those graphics have nothing above a 10% chance of rain all day.
  13. Yes I had forgot that, can't remember where but I do remember the car set solid in ice. My abiding memory of 2010 is the noise of huge chunks of ice floating down the ribble and hitting the old penwortham bridge. I remember thinking at the time this might be a once in a lifetime event. Hope I'm wrong but I still think it might be.
  14. The pics here show a good cover but no reason depth December 2010: Do you remember the snow storm that brought Preston to a standstill? | Lancashire Evening Post WWW.LEP.CO.UK The winter of 2010–11 was a weather event that brought heavy snowfalls, record low temperatures, travel chaos and school disruption to most of...
  15. I have lived in Preston since 1998, there has never been more than /3 cm in that time........09/10 close y may have had more but not in the centre of town. I am 42 years old most of that time in Liverpool or Preston, I dont think I have ever seen anything like a foot of snow, if I have it must have been when i was very young) (it is possible im forgetting a bigger fall, or was away during one but i dont think so.)
  16. Same here, also toffee. City fans have been really good on the whole with the new found wealth, they know and recognise how lucky they have been with rich owners almost apologetic at times, not entitled like Chelsea fans.
  17. Same here near avenham park. Hope the radar picks up, the meto app has snow and sleet symbols through the day. Very unusual for the apps to show any snow here even on the odd occasion when it does snow.
  18. Have they not been about right, its seems lie they have here.
  19. Preston isnt far behind for snowlessness, although to be fair we have twice had a dusting this year...never a good coverage, but that is incredibly rare here and always has been I think.
  20. Sorry Dexter, wasnt meant to be having a go and this forum is pretty balanced these days, but particulaly in the model thread it seems to be fine to mention snow chances a week or more away for a given location, but if you get disappointed if the models change with a few days to go, you get hammered for not understanding how unpredictable these things are.
  21. Good luck mate, vast majority sail though, chances are you'll be one of those! (not to downplay it all of course)
  22. Its also two days away for the people who are expecting snow, we cant have it both ways, if its ok to get exited about snow a few days away its surely ok to be sceptical too. Of course its two days away and can change, but very few people say that when anyone is getting exited. Some people are always really hopeful some people always very cautious, there is room for both.
