  1. I think it said she was the Christie which is a cancer hospital. She was a big part of this forum, in that she got a lot of stick for mild ramping, but it was all good natured bantar. She can have worked in weather and not known how much it wound up coldies, so I imagine there was a bit of mischievousness in that mild ramping and of course mild is probably what the majority want. She will be sadly missed, thoughts to her family.
  2. This forum is a good reflection of wider society, everything has become black and white, no room for nuance. The background signals aren't to be ignored, nor are they gospel truth, like most things there is a middle ground.
  3. But it's not like other weather agencies get it spot on, is it not that the science isn't advanced enough rather than the met office being crap? Although I agree they are sometimes slow to alter warnings.
  4. Yep it will take an awful lot of luck to bring an significant laying snow this far west, it could happen no doubt about that, but not likely at all. Personally I dont see the appeal of snow unless its going to stick, I will be watching the radar and hoping for that slim chance, but Id be much happier if next few days were due to be 18C and blue skies.
  5. Where is 'us' Snowmusic, if you put your location in your profile or sinature, we will know where you are.
  6. Yeah coming down quite nicely. (my other posts havent been about this cold spell, this is snowmagedon by Preston standards)
  7. The whole west coast of Lancashire/Cumbria is poor, I thought Preston was about as bad as it got, but I think you may have an even more snowless spot up there. I said yesterday, when you start think about all the factors that need to line up for snow here, and all the hindrances to that, its amazing we ever get any really.
  8. Im not sure its poor from the meto, you could argue its poor that humanity has is not advanced enough to precisely pinpoint these things, but its a bit harsh to hold the meto account on that, the science is where it is, we just dont know enough to be that precise. Unless Im missing something and other people/organistions are capable of getting these things spot on?
  9. Snowing here, fairly light, funny I wonder why this shower made it where others had faded, didnt seem any more intense than the ones that failed.
  10. I think thats the last for here then, a nice 2cm covering this morning certainly beats most winters. Does reinforce (as if it were needed) just how difficult it is to get substantial and lasting snow on the west coast, when you start to think about everything that has to go just right for us, its a miracle it ever happens.
  11. yep, are the any more organised features forecast? Showers are going to cut it.
  12. Showers arent getting to me, fizzling out over Bowland.
  13. ahhh it wont get any bigger, those magic creams they advertise on the internet dont work. (so im told)
  14. Think that is the last for me, unless the bands in the east can make it across the Dales, which I would normally think had no chance, but there is snow on the ground i Preston, so this isnt normal.
  15. He's gone on my ignore list...he is a troll.
  16. Belting it down here now, wont last long but should add another cm.
  17. Is that also forecast to cross the whole region?
  18. Looks like one more decent shower heading this way, then that will be it until?
  19. Beautiful out there, maybe 2cm in centre of Preston a bit more possibly. 2cm of lying powder snow, and 30cm long icicles under the bridge into Avenham Park, thats already made this a memorable spell for whatever ever happens next.
  20. Starting to feel pretty cold out there now. I miss all the warnings bar Fridays, (just in that one). Looks like we have upgrades on this afternoons models, but nothing that makes me think ill see much snow here. I hope we got some stonking minimum temps to keep up some interest. As much as its not ALL about the snow for me* as it is with some of you....but....it would be a shame not to get some when conditions are soooo right for it to stick and stay. *when i say the snow isnt as important to me, Im not sure if its me or you lot Im trying to convince
  21. Those light showers make it right to the coast has got to bode well. When showers pep up later is there any reason they would stop getting this far, are they likely to hit land further north or south? Will the wind direction change slightly? Any snow will be great, but am I right in thinking anything this west will always be light, any chance at all of heavyish showers?
