  1. hmm that should really kill off our interest, the most recent high resolution output says no. But the hype gets to us, so i imagine most of us (me included) will cling to the hope its wrong, (it wont be wrong).
  2. Dew point was 0.7 just after a hail shower, 1.3 now after its been dry for half an hour or so, temp 4.1. Going to be fun seeing what happens over the next few days, but Im not confident of seeing lying snow.
  3. Thoughts are gnore the apps, honestly they are a waste of time
  4. What are your feelings this setup for the coast, I keep seeing ppl in the mod thread claiming anything falling north of london will be snow, but from experince, Im with Backtrack, anything 20 miles from coast will be sleet?
  5. As others have said, dont worry about the apps, Im not saying it will or wont snow, just that the apps arent a good guide. Unless things have changed recently, the apps have no human input and are only taking into account a handful of the many variables. There are tons of knowledgeable posters on here with a wealth of experience in deciphering the various charts and models and lifetimes worth of local knowledge, listen to them, not an app.
  6. Fingers crossed, interesting couple of days ahead, but I am expecting to have to travel to see lying snow, with no elevation and not far from the coast, Im reluctant to believe snow will settle here.
  7. Someone in the model thread mentioned how nice or would be to get accurate model predictions to t300 regularly. What would they take? Just money, for more currently available tech and computing power. Research into new tech, or a leap forward in our understanding of the fundamentals plus the other two?
  8. Yeah not overly wild here either, wonder it the worst is going to be south of the region and the midlands?
  9. Apologies if this shouldn't be here.... What is the shortest notice you have ever known a decent cold spell to show up in the models. Not a snow shower or a frosty night, a proper cold spell. Has there ever been 4, 5 or less days notice to a big freeze? When I say notice I don't necessarily mean absolutely nobody saw it coming (although that would be great), more that it wasn't picked up by the major models.
  10. Cheers, Im off in a minute to do some work at Yarrow Valley Park, had wondered if it would be snowy there......
  11. If I remember rightly (and I probably dont) we already had some pretty cold wether in place by then?
  12. Thats a really sad thought, but I agree, what a special couple of weeks that was!
  13. Its the hope that does it........even when Im convinced the event will be a wash out (as I was this time) there is still that little bit of hope, so no matter how many I times I tell myself there is no chance of snow....im still disappointed when it doesnt. Although i hope I am not one of the people who turns that disappointment into rage at BBC or METO or the southerners or anyone else
  14. My guess would be yes the wait will continue, the four year wait says it all, i.e. it takes a hell of alot of to bring snow o the west of the region, this just doesnt feel likely. I think the best ill get here is a flurry with little to no chance of sticking, I can see why other people like to see falling slow but it doesnt really interest me if it doesnt settle, for the same reason that I dont really get the point of strip clubs.
  15. Still 5.6 here, but it has started to drop in the last hour or so
  16. Its just a numbers game isnt, there are nearly 10 million ppl in London, ppl are naturally going to be more interested in where they live, so its inevitable that events in the most populated areas create more interest.
  17. 0.4 DP Temp 7.7 (not sure how accurate my weather station is)
  18. indeed SFZ, I know there are all sorts ot ways we can in theory get snow here, but i will be forever tainted by 2010, i.e if ice days and minus double digits are not forecast, I expect sleet at best. on 2010, the snow we got Dec 19th, was that the start of the bitter cold, or had we had ice days and bitter nights already by then?
  19. Just seen this in model thread, shows rain for west coast, is it going to be the usual washout here?
  20. Typical east of M6 always get the pineapple!
  21. the issue for me and thee will be what flavor the prcip is...any thoughts?
  22. that was a pleasant surprise...a couple of cm on some surfaces, its sleet at best now though, unless it intensifies thats it for here I imagine
  23. But life is long and your are young and there is time to kill today...
  24. oh either I misread before or temp has shot up its 1.0 here with a DP of -0.9
