  1. Hmmm.... I guess JMA is not a disaster, it may not change tonight, from yesterday Personally i find the chase as exciting as the catch. even though this time the easterly may have gone, im ready to chase the next one even if we have to wait a few weeks/years. so close, the easterly managed to get to +144 at one point, which is not far fetched lala land. Must say thx to Tetis BFTP Steve M and many more for your great imput during this eciting period.
  2. Mods this is turning into a circus, please delete this and other off topic posts:help: btw mods you usually do a great job, keep it up
  3. The JMA is looking alright tonight, no upper air above 0c gets into the uk throughout
  4. The best place for that would be the regional threads. obvouisly a northerly only excites some parts of the country, if its being ignored in here it wont be in your regional thread. Personally i like the disscusion of models outside the reliable timeframe. Ecm rolling out, cant see it being as good as the 0z after the GFS and METO in the 144- timeframe. though after +144 i think it will be like the GFS
  5. its a low pressure system coming in from the artic behind this cold artic air pushing against the warm air (polar front) storm force had a great pic of it showing the centre. though this looks like it has caved in now. they never last long. Is it still snowing? what type of snow fell? Hate being on the south coast in a northerly, always the last to see the white stuff!
  6. Glad to hear that the cold air is pushing through fast. This rain/snow band seems to be fading away south. Still some nice showers in the east of our region though looks like a polar low off the north east of Scotland which is running south. The Meto have issued warnings for E.A but looking at the projected winds they dont seem favourable for us
  7. Very quiet in here, so thought i would post my thoughts for today and the upcoming weekend on the snow potential. Today Well using the GFS 06z run we have a small chance of seeing some snow between the times of 2-8pm. This will be very light and be most likley wet snow/sleet. The further east and north you are the greater the chance of seeing snow. In the far east of kent you could see snow showers from this evening onwards. However looking at the current radar image the rain band seems to be dying so the ppn may die away before the colder air mixes with it as it travels south Saturday Saturday looks like a very dry cold day with lots of sunshine. Again the east side of Kent could see snow showers at any point in the day. Sunday It looks as though the north westerly winds will pick up and will move showers into our region these showers will be light and shortlived but will be of snow. The GFS is not the best model with regards to picking up ppn. In this kind of setup within 24 hours bands or showers can form which could push further inland. so this information my change within this 48 period.
  8. even IF the easterly goes wrong, this weekend we could still see some nice snowfalls. for example look at the latest GFS 06z However where the ppn is will change locations over the next few days. but im sure 24 hours out some charts will show some ppn for the south east gotta keep watching Yamkin beat me to it^^^
  9. IF the 12Z run of the GFS and ECM from this evening come off then this forum will get busy!!! all i can say wow! when will the mods move up the regional threads? should be busy from this wekend and beyond T+300
  10. The UKMO and GFS 12z both have much more of a N/NE flow compared with the 6z with more of a N/NW flow GFS 6Z GFS 12Z UKMO OH UKMO 12H Still early doors but nice trend
  11. they look very nice, after the northerly some mild(er) temps then alot going for sub -5 again possibly another northerly reload or a nice easterly looking to tonight, the ppcn is coming into the south east and although it showing as snow of netwheather extra i think its rain. looking at http://uksnow.benmarsh.co.uk/ no one is reporting any snow. hope mods dont mind me posting these
  12. lol, yes i love the fustration of seeing snow on the radar 10 miles from you temps here on the south coast around 7c. dont think we will see snow here on the south coast tonight, however the further north you are and the higher you are obvouisly the more chance, north downs might see a bit. really excited about next week though if we dont get downgrades tonight on the models then i will be ringing my council to get my lamppost fixed in time
  13. Indeed. the beeb saying sleet in the south east tonight but think a few could wake up tomorrow to a wee covering of snow also from next thursday to sunday we could see some more white stuff in the south east, especially the further east you are... hopefully this thread will become busier over the next few days.....
  14. what a let down the 06z is, just 12 hours ago we had a dream charts, this morning we have charts my nightmares are made of even giving up our weak easterly this week still does not give us a northerly into feb. the storms futher north are much further south on this run.
  15. its drizzle (i know replying to yourself is sad) well going cry my self to sleep see ya all next week when the cold returns
  16. well the ppcn is about to reach me, so wil stay up for a little while, but knowining that they have rain down the road in bournmouth does not fill me up with hope. however the temps here are lower 0.8c here with dew -1.5 will let you know what i get. however i am right on the coast so if its rain for me it might not be for you
  17. it does appear to be gaiing strength, over the IOW area which is a good sign. however just played back the radar and the last time it shifted eastwards was at 8:50. it has stalled since then. at least before it arrives the temps here are dropping so hopefully we be less marginal especially inland.
  18. this band has not moved in an hour, just sitting there just to our west, surprising that its 3c in bournmouth, its only 1c here and im right on the coast to,
  19. NAE After the showers in the east over the last few days, it will be good to get some decent ppcn over the westen side of our region. might even ge some snow at times on the coast. The further west you are the better, however if this low moves further east then expected then lots in our region could see some. met office going for snow on its leading front which is good news for us.
  20. Indeed it does look promising, however will be marginal. hopefully we can have one more set of snow before the warm air wins out (for now) think this forum might get busier on tuesday/wednesday depending how far east this low goes.
  21. really, thought it was going beack east ealier, though last 5 min radar shows it moving west slightly, maybe. lets hope.
