  1. This thing is heading in real quick, looks to be in London in 2 hours! That's 2 ahead of predictions.
  2. Not heard anyone talk of wind along with the snowfall tomorrow (actually now tonight) Any details on gusts, talk of drifting?? Or just a gentle breeze with snow falling in almost a perfect vertical descent??
  3. Halling (Medway Valley) seems to be a bit of a "warm spot" compared with temps being reported in the SE. Current -1 and minimum was just -2 ( recorded on a Davis VP2) Think the NE wind dir is keeping the temps up as it blows in from the estuary. My view on the weekend, don't believe anything until it happens. Seen way too many of these west v east forecasts turn either way, rain or big falls, that they become almost impossible to predict with accuracy. Be nice though to get the 10cm predicted! Listen to the serious amateurs on here or the Met experts, rather than the bladderack and pine cone watchers that predict armaggedon with every twist and turn of a model. Fingers crossed for a good one! ( in case anyone thinks otherwise I’m a "mild hater!")
  4. Normally I'm an "extreme" weather fan, but seeing as I'm flying out of Gatwick to Vegas on Friday I'm starting to get a dreadful feeling about things. Don't know how accurate this is as it's often wind direction dependant, but think that 50knots + and airports start to close thier runways?? Ooops something is amiss with my signatures.......need to delve in to the software!!
  5. View the Live Streaming Cam in Times Square NY as a major snowstorm hits the East. Storm is "Wrap-around" snow, so tonnes of convection off the Atlantic and dumps major falls up the coast! Watch LIVE HERE
  6. Far too gimicky. Go for one with Rain Bucket and Anemometer, The LaCrosse are good starter ones http://www.weather-station-products.co.uk/ecom-prodshow/WS1501.html or similar (I have a WS-3200 I think) But most of us who take Weather remotely seriously will be using a Davis, I and many others in particular have a Vantage Pro 2 and runs my weather station (link below) However, you are not going to get any change out of £600!
  7. Medway Valley still a Flake-Less zone for 2010/11 Season
  8. Today's observations whislt out and about in my "64 Wheeler" On way to work at 04:00 thick fog on Wrotham Hill (North Downs) , and low cloud/fog hanging over all tall buildings in London. Rain shower around 11:00 in London. Snow cover, around Medway virtually gone. London gone from Centre and up to about 8 miles South. Still plenty of snow cover from Swanley to Sevenoaks especially around Eynsford and Otford. Plenty of snow cover also over Wrotham and Bluebell Hills. However although 3'C here, the air feels cooler, kind of sharper than the last few days. End of a quick tour around SE London and part of Kent
  9. Was it your path, on your property???? If so I hope you have adequate house insurance. Sorry to sound like a doom monger but I heard the very same scenario on the radio the other day, and if it's yours insurance is the word here!
  10. Where has Monsieur Poisson got his predictions from?? Was he looking or using yesterdays models?? He seemed quite adamant about Scandi/Sibe' winning back.
  11. "Fishy's" latest forecast suggests the Scandi/Siberean high (1054 or summat!!!) might return Tuesday onward! Might have to re-instate the regional cold spell threads!
  12. Valley update. A dismal disappointment. Snowed lightly but persistantly since way before 07:00 (6+ Hours!), never eased up. But nothing stuck, okay a little may have settled on the snow covered grass, but roads, trees, cars..... Nada! Also remaining snow is thawing, and it's not even warm! 0.3'C ! Dew point -0.8'C and humidity 92%. YUK!
  13. Anyone else agree that the "mass" seems to be moving at a very rough guess of 20 MPH. I've been monitoring it for hours and always seems to be roughly 20. If so on the line London to Southampton, it looks to have about 4 hours worth. Kent line looks ...maybe 2????? All very roughly calculated, with thumb and milage estimates

  15. I have been quite optomistic over the past 2 weeks but unfortuneatly this time I'm half empty not half full, I have seen this West to East, cold v mild scenario far too many times over the years. I just feel, we've had it here, it's finished for a few weeks at least, and that whole band is just going to do nothing but rain on our parade, washing every last snow mound and ice chunk into the water table. Trying not to be a party pooper too much but I have this feeling, it's been good while it lasted but IMHO the shows over.........sorry Edit having typed all that pessimism, temps have dropped half a degree in the last hour! lol
  16. Great motion satelite video of the approaching Mild v Warm battle European Satelite Video Last 5 Days: The Approach of the Mild Party Pooper!
  17. FWIW That's more than we had in North Kent over the last few hours!!!
  18. Not wishing to be a Killjoy European minima for a Blizzard: A violent snowstorm with winds blowing at a minimum speed of 35 miles (56 kilometers) per hour and visibility of less than one-quarter mile (400 meters) for three hours. But I share your joy!
  19. Well this bubbled up out of nowhere. Not alot showing on Radar, then just after 20:00 the poooof this lot started to brew! You just never know what's happening this winter!
  20. I am not alone then! Edit: My location could be on the track to take the full length of this PPN moving through, looks to be 30 miles worth perhaps! Good hours worth?? Up to 1 cm lying already.
  21. I feel sorry for you, and yes you guys are working harder than most of us on the Railway. I however love this as a Train Driver, since the freeze & snow last Wednesday most of the trains are in the depots are broken and I have done vitually sod all
  22. Heavy snow here in the Medway Valley, starting to cover everything again. I am happy....the Wife isn't!! LOL
  23. 0.6'C and DP 0.1 risen from -0.0 in last 10 mins. Nothing of any note falling yet here in the Valley, lightest of light snizzle/drizzle. Can it snow with that DP???
  24. It's throw away your thermometer time! Running the model for the next 7 days the temperature just stays between 1 and 3'c. No real change, night/day day in day out. Cold but not that cold, no frosts, no "proper" snow, just mucky, cold and miserable feeling. Just my humble'
