  1. Think pretty much it's game over for any more snow in this area of Kent. Granted some cold days to come +1s or +2s, some very cold nights, but I'd stick money on the West bringing mild at the weekend. It's good whilst it's lasting. So here's to February and lets hope for a reload
  2. Well I'm just 3 mile away and .... drip drip drip drip drip Plus 1.2 not conducive to snow staying put, but not exactly an earnest thaw
  3. It's Winterwatch on iPlayer http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/b01q9d86/Winterwatch_1963_The_Big_Freeze/
  4. Third rail arcing, and believe me that will be horrendous tonight will reflect massively of the low cloud base and light up for miles. As skies clear the reflection will go and there will be less visible over such huge distances.
  5. It's not lightning, thundersnow is RARE. So rare that Mr Weather himself Jim Cantore goes nuts if he hears and sees it!! No lightning around!
  6. Ah that's right you live on the Hayes branch, rather than the Catford loop. Use to drive that route years ago. Diesels hauling dead EMU's is quite a rareity indeed!
  7. OOOh, do tell me more as I drive that line?? Not a frieght though?? Pulling a failed Networker or 319???
  8. That driver: what a (if this doesn't say cockroft when referring to a bbc forecaster, I have maturity issues) Cockcroft!
  9. Must be, radar shows no precipation of note South of that area. And Croydon has massive potential for huge arcing. Loads of lines, loads of points, loads of "gaps" (where you get flashing in the dry, I know I drove this area!)
  10. My summary of the BBC/Meto Forecast for the week. Snow dying out for our region tonight. Lows -2 to -5 overnight (lower in some areas) Snow potential for perhaps Sussex mid morning. Snow potential for much of the SE Mon afternoon. Snow potential Tue Drying Wed Thur COLD WEATHER NOT GOING ANYWHERE SOON (This week) Lows below freezing up until friday. maximums as the week goes on 0 tomorrow and tue, +2 Wed Thur Enjoy
  11. I'll try again. (and I did say please) To our more learned posters. What sort of temps are we exppecting overnight once this clears, and what's on the horizon tomorrow re snow chances v rain??
  12. Super day here in the Medway Valley. Snow starting to ease I believe and we shall top out bang on predicted 8cm. So need to catch up on 50 pages, or can someone summarise next 24 hours including overnight rural lows.....pretty please
  13. Just a guess, but wind has veered North, so coming straight off the Estuary. Has caused temps to rise ever so slightly.
  14. Constant Snizzle now. Temps have gone wrong sid eof zero at +0.2 and is causing melt on car windows and not too much is settling on cleared tarmac. Need a 1/2 degree drop in temps. Snow build up is nowhere near like it was for first 4 hours at -0.5c Actually wind has gone N now so possibly bring a smidgen higher temps of the warmer Estuary.
  15. Looking at Sheerness webacm (IOSSC) snow looks marginal right on the coast. +0.6 Luckily it's not here
  16. It's very "Alpine-esque" here in the Valley. Gonna go for 10cm I reckon by 6pm
  17. He kids you not. It's below 0 and it's raining in the air. Just went to check. Didn't notice any freeze going on. Definately drizzle. No snizzle or graupel. Hope this isn't an omen!!
  18. Can I ask again, as the more knowledgeable ones are still around. When was the last time we had a winter "storm" (Americanism...I know) approach from the South East having come right across France. If memory serves me right, apart from some that have veered off course, they have normally brough Kent to a standstill. Is there scope for this to be epic for Kent / Essex???
  19. Experts, Historians & just folk with loooong memories. When was the last time we had a winter "storm" (Americanism...I know) approach from the South East having come right across France. If memory serves me right, apart from some that have veered off course, they have normally brough Kent to a standstill. Is there scope for this to be epic for Kent / Essex???
  20. Just spoke to Kaddy I asked her: @KaddyLP I hear you're saying 2-4cm for Kent. Really? Is this event being over ramped by the media and BBC weather using "significant" ?? Her reply “@KaddyLP: @HallingWeather some parts of the south east could get more... And that would be fairly significant for us...†then “@KaddyLP: @HallingWeather and sorry for lack of detail but I have been at the #Energyfair today and not able to look at charts thoroughly†I'm not going to wash my Twitter for a month!!!
  21. I watched ITV news, and just before I came back to the Computer Room I thought, oooh I'll just watch the ITV Weather. OMG, is that designed for children?????? (or even by children??) Lame. 1/10 Must try harder.
