  1. I'm a weather "fan", but this is a bit scary. Being a home owner and Dad to two, safety and money are huge worries. Never seen such an intense storm for such prolonged hours... 12+?? Most storms are in and out in 6! 87 although worse, only lasted a few hours.
  2. Rain is ok, heavy rain is so-so, torrential prolonged rain is just a worry!
  3. My Station record for 24hr was 30mm, in the station's 8 years setup. Very rarely here in N Kent do we get over 25mm. Smashed out of all proportions. 39.2mm and still rising!!!
  4. I'm not asking for Alpine snow cutters, not wanting Caterpillar Snow Blowers, just gritting lorries out all day yesterday gritting the M20 and M23/A23, not much to ask is it? Two of the more major road arteries in Kent and Sussex. Sorry I don,t buy the excuses I'm hearing ths morning. Plain and simple, it was predicted, it was only ever gong to hit a small area, so concentrated efforts of just back to basics gritting. And yes I did get get stuck on the M20 last night for hours. And the biggest thing that galls me is, I checked Highways Agency on the train, just stated Westbound delays, so I left Swanley and there was not one bloody sign or dot matrix to say M20 closed, impassable, not one flashing light. Join the motorway, round the bend and wallop, handbrake on for hours and hours, and it had been ongoing for several hours. Yes I am slightly peeved. No I'm not inexperienced having driven coaches for 13 years in the Alps all year round, no I don't have a Mercedes like the 30 abandoned on the M20 last night, yes I do take my thin wheeled fwd old Fiesta out in the snow. It's the others inability and abandon the vehicle at the drop of a hat mentality last night that brought the M20 to a standstill.
  5. Jnc 1 M20 to Jnc 4 M20 Usually 20 minutes Tonight 3 HOURS 20 MINUTES WTF, where were the grtitters? Not like this was a surprise. Pathetic this country at times. Rant over
  6. -0.3?? What are you measuring that with? Seems a bit on the cold side. 1/2 a mile from you it's not been sub zero for hours, even got to 1.7 but falling again now. http://www.halling-weather.co.uk/wxtrends.php
  7. Another non-event for the Medway valley. With only the wettest slushiest of dustings on cars and grass this morning which melted by 9am. Apart from the 8cm 3 weeks ago, probably one of the most irritating winters for years. So much potential, so much around me but here, the River Medway radiator must be on full this winter. What's more of a tease, I look out over to Bluebell Hill, and it's covered
  8. Temp over last 24 hr. No change here in last hour. http://www.halling-weather.co.uk/wxgraphs/temp+dew+hum_24hr.php
  9. Where in North Kent? You may find my Weather Station of some use to you! Links below.
  10. What do Gritter Drivers do from tomorrow???? Do they all just sit in the tea room until the next cold snap?????
  11. Dull and cold here in Swanley, St Mary Cray, Bickley, Bromley, Shortlands, Ravensbourne....... Oops sorry on a train
  12. Some people on here, and they know who they are, state and try to predict the biggest load of verbal diarrhoea I've ever witnessed. There's Ramping and there's BShamping!!
  13. How can we all compare our scores if folk are scoring how they wish??? Paul S was quite specific, as in here: http://forum.netweather.tv/topic/75710-london-south-east-regional-discussion-22nd-january-2013-2200hrs/page__st__160#entry2563174 Synoptics Out of 10 Snow Out of 10 Frosts Out of 10 Combine the score divide by 3 then we are all looking at comparable scores.
  14. Paul was asking for a score for: SYNOPTICS SNOW FROSTS C'mon folks put some effort in, don't just say "4/10 as it's not snowed enough."
  15. For me: Winter 2012/13 so far. Synoptics. Full of promise, excitement and just amusing at times. 8/10 Snow. To be frank, not bad what we had on Sunday, but the frustrations of being "so close" to all the other events is going to lead me to score this poorly. December had snowfall North of London and Essex we had rain. Monday 14/01 was a dusting to be followed by rain. Fri 18th. Well it just didn't happen, main snow band halted at the North Downs so had a pitiful "dandruff" snow dusting. Sunday's was good but could have been so much better as yet again heavier more prolonged bands went either side of the Medway area. Last night, Nada! So I can only score this part. 3/10 Frosts. Well I'm going to cheat here. I was in Scotland 10-14 of Dec. Was in some -10 areas, crazy crazy hoar frosts, sub 0 ( in fact sub-2) days, but here frosts have been thin on the ground, so going down the middle-ish due to my Scottish trip 4/10 So that's a score of 15/30 So again a 5/10
  16. You'll be able to look down on me.....literally. Live right by the river and the view from my front looks directly across the marshes and fields all the way up to the top of the hill. It's a tease, as we can have very little cover sometimes here, and see BH covered
  17. Yes they've all gone home now, and the cleaning lady has unplugged the radar so she can plug her Henry Vac in. I'm serious too.
  18. M20 South is the Snow Shield protecting The Medway area...... yet again. Right I'm moving!
  19. The Eastern end of the front seems to be picking up a lot over the Channel, looks to be heading further East than even the 12z NAE suggests! But maybe the pivot will take it away west later?? http://www.raintoday.co.uk/
  20. Been up to +4 here!!!! heading back down now. Drip drip drip drip drip
