  1. No storm here today, but we did get some extremely heavy rain and some small hail; enough to create some minor surface flooding. There was also some nice structure on the last shower that came through before it got dark.
  2. Some small hail and a fair amount of cloud motion in the showers here earlier. Looks as though that may be it for the far southeast for today.
  3. Can see the occasional flash from the cell out in the channel, I don't think it's quite worth heading down to the coast to watch. A nice start to the year though!
  4. Was down Winchelsea early this morning. Everything covered in hail coming through Rye, still a little remaining in the shade now. Watched the storms out in the channel lightning up the sky for a couple hours. A glorious morning out there now, blue skies and a warm sun, lovely!
  5. A nice long rumble of thunder here just now, the first of 2017 and fingers crossed many many more to come this year. A nice rainbow here earlier as the sun was setting and some small hail earlier in the day. Certainly looking forward to the summer and some nice plumes moving up from the south! - A second rumble a few seconds after the entire sky lit up. Polystyrene ball size hail and everything covered in white
  6. Been snowing lightly here for a few hours. A cm at a push on the cars, garden table etc. Patchy covering on paths and sideroads. Looking good just out in the north sea, perhaps a little surprise coming for some?
  7. Looks as if there is more of an easterly flow to the showers coming into Kent now, hoping it'll help the heavier stuff reach me. I see webcams in the Canterbury area have a light covering of snow on them
  8. Temperature didn't fall below -1.6 yesterday. Has risen to -0.8 currently with light rain falling and freezing on all surfaces. Will certainly be a slippy one in the morning!
  9. Definitely doesn't show the snow so well, but it's better than having the orange coloured lights which were turned off at midnight
  10. 2cm here, slushy mess on roads. Ventured out down towards Rye just now, couple of trees down and a lorry on its side in a ditch near Peasmarsh. May have been caused by the wind - very strong on the back end of the system. Look forward to further wintryness in coming day or two
  11. Yeah, just lost power for a split second here. Still snowing moderately. 1.5cm here, hoping for an inch
  12. 8- 20p flakes going at a steady pace now- accumulating around 0.5cm - 1cm per hour ^^ About an 8 on the Murr scale here right now, everything white outside
  13. Finally turning to snow here, hoping for a cm or two... or three.. or four?
  14. Did just shy of 100 miles along the Kent coast this morning. Counted 9 large trees down, 2 power lines down, numerous large branches, 30+ snapped estate agent signs and a trampoline on top of a bungalow A fair amount of surface flooding around, rivers just beginning to rise in response to the rain. Not a bad little storm, look forward to the next !
  15. Currently out along the Kent coastline, a lot of small branches down and a fair amount of sea foam blowing around. winds have picked up dramatically in the past 5 mins, I'd guess 60+ gusts fairly easily now. Plenty of roads starting to flood too.
  16. http://www.bognorregisbeach.co.uk/live http://www.beaming.biz/company/hastings-pier-webcam/ The links above should be good viewing at first light tomorrow
  17. Half a dozen rumbles early this morning from the showers out in the channel. Nice to hear after a lull in storm activity
  18. Watched that cell for a while to my north, rapid development initially but seemed to suddenly stop once reaching a certain height as it moved out into the distance.
  19. One small shower just popped up in the south east - Can see it just to my north, very isolated, the only bit of cloud I have in the sky. Hope to get out overnight should anything develop
  20. Omg! Another little storm here, has exploded in activity as it came over. As it came towards strikes were only once every couple of minutes or so, but all strikes were massive cgs, one extremely close. Now all lightning is back to being high up and flashing every 2-3 seconds. Some extremely heavy rain also. :-)
  21. Incredible number of flashes, far more than detectors are indicating. Was almost at 80 a minute a while back. Only one cg seen out of all the strikes and calmed down very quickly in the last 5 minutes.
  22. Lovely storm moving in here. Constant thunder amd lightning here.
  23. Nice storm came through here around an hour ago, a good 8-10 flashes and rumbles and some pea sized hail mixed in.
  24. Some big storms around here on Saturday. Must have had 3-4 separate storms during the day. Hail the size of marbles in the worst. Got a pic of the first shower that popped up - started producing thunder 20 minutes after I took this photo. Some places nearby had it much worse: http://www.kentonline.co.uk/gravesend/news/heavy-rain-causes-havoc-97994/
  25. Some incredible mammatus on the edge of the initial group of storms that hit the south East last night!
