Won’t know until 24-48 hours beforehand… ie the Cumbria streamer in December… troughs and feature pop up at the last minute… fax charts will pick up on them 24-48 hours before… we’ll have to wait and see
This is very true but we can get a good idea of the potential by looking at the pressure charts. Some lovely Irish sea potential on the ECM and ICON in particular.
Maybe a bit like this?

This is a classic Manchester snow shadow situation - elsewhere in the NW very good I would imagine, including Liverpool and the Lancs coast. I prefer charts earlier in the run. ECM is epic - not for this chart in particular but for the possibility of cold unstable Arctic air with convection off the Irish Sea.
Hopefully we can tap into both weather types.

Hi everyone,
Been posting like mad on TWO but thought I’d pop in here.
I don’t know about anyone else in the NW (in particular, Greater Manchester) - but I’m far more interested in the Arctic NW’ly airmass and convective potential , rather than systems coming in from the south?
Hopefully if we do get any systems pushing in - heights will be low and/or the wind will somehow be completely calm or from a westerly quarter - to avoid what shall not be named (the s*** s*****) .
It’s all about the NW’ly showers and troughs for me - any ideas on whether they’ll deliver? Dec 2009 was a dream and we all remember what happened in early Jan.
Anyway I hope you all are well!

You can see some settling the other side of the railway line.
Didn’t expect too much but for Manc city centre this is a seasonal way to start December at least.
Sleep well everyone.!

Good to know, Im round the corner from the video you took, the issue is the building is covered in scaffolding so can't see out!
It would need to get heavier and maybe drop by a degree or so to settle properly. So far it’s just a little on the grass.

All looking very lively out west now over North Wales and the Irish Sea. Precipitation appears to be intensifying.
Will it be snow? Could be interesting in a few hours in line with most of the high-res NWP.

Any snow at all at lower levels?
We had snow earlier , didn’t seem marginal.
The dewpoint is rising though.

Hey everyone
Thought it was time for me to pop in .
One of those rare occasions where we look to be well placed for a change. Hope you’re all well and thank you for all your posts. @Kasim Awan great analysis as always mate.
All being well we will get a very rare Manchester City centre snowfall later but I still won’t believe it until I see it .
I absolutely love this friendly thread.

I’ve been posting there for many many years and there are some very decent people posting there.
It has lost its way a bit over the years but I think I prefer the model thread over there compared to Net Weather during this chase haha.
