  1. It's the look I get from the missus after I come in late from the pub A mild 1.1c; overcastish.
  2. All this stuff about NW is going rather over my head. Is this all related to the model threads (there be dragons)? I don't want to bring up old animosities, but I've been here for a few years now and appreciate allcomers, and hope we all have fun. Owls are quiet...probably overcast. 10.5c.
  3. Quite a drop in temperature so far today, from 12.5c this morning to the current 3.8c. It has been nice and sunny, and it's CHRISTMAS (nearly). No work for two weeks, yay. Though I work from home and will need to check in a couple of times a day to catch up on stuff and make sure everything is working. :w00t:
  4. Ridiculously mild again at 9.1C. 18.8C in the unheated bedroom with the patio doors open onto the balcony (we don't use heating in here as I get a tad too warm). The trees are blowing about a bit; steady 10mph, gusting to 20mph I'd guess
  5. Think so. -0.8 at the moment. A balmy 12C in the bedroom though. Cup of tea, I think. Have a good day all.
  6. Horrible here today with the Kent streamer which, as Azores Hi pointed out, could have been so much better if it had been cold enough to snow, but just dropped rain on us for hours on end. Temps were stuck at 5-6C for most of the day, now dropping away sharply at 3.8C. Yuk.
  7. Much the same here, Shunter. 6.1C, bitter in the wind. I've just signed up for the Winter special on Netweather radar (one year at £19.95), so I hope that doesn't mean I've scared off the snow. Woodburner blazing away.
  8. Mine's been too wet to mow for a good 6 weeks, With the mild wet spells, it's grown ridiculously. May need one of those flail machines in the spring.
  9. That was why the forums went to local. I believe. I'm still as excited as a small child by the prospect of snow, and I'm 52. I think it was the first snow down our round way since 2005.
  10. I only really remember the date of snow because of naming my piccys as Nov-10 snow. Came as a bit of a surprise, if I'm not mistaken.
  11. Foggy all day here so far, though it has apparently managed to crawl up to 10c, though I must say it doesn't feel like it in the murk. I hope some of these colder, frostier and drier long range forecasts come into play. Proper SAD weather otherwise. Cat is doing well after the initial scare of her 3-legging it out of the cat flap and staying out all night. The little minx. Confined to her puppy crate now with the occasional trip into the orangery to stretch her remaining legs. Stitches out next Monday, so she'll be Nelson Mandela till then.
  12. 42mph? That does seem a bit unlikely. Almost completely still here although there is the occasional twitch in the trees. Grey with light drizzle and 7.4c. Yuk.
  13. Mark and Durky. I made the trip to Tesco to get white fish in (thanks for the recommendation, she's had a few nibbles, including the Mickey Finn) and pet food in general, and cat litter, for the first time ever. 2 dogs and 3 cats requires a ridiculous amount of supply. Though the 17-year old runs close. Anya was walking about in the house today and even managed to jump up onto the sofa. It looked like it hurt a bit though so we put her on a cushion which seemed to please her. Back in the crate at the moment as the Mickey Finned painkiller is quite strong, and she was beginning to have a go at the stitches. Cat Tramadol, apparently. Sorry for the OT. Cooler now at 7C ( i was surprised to see how much colder it had got) with drizzly stuff.
  14. Thanks for that, scrat (bleedin' poet, me). She's home now but in a puppy crate until she recovers a bit more. Purring (and not through fear I think) but not eating yet. We've tried ham, cheese and raw beef so far. It'll be better once she does so that we can slip her the painkillers in her food. We don't really want to pick her up and force the tablet down, but may have to if she doesn't succumb to the tempting treats. One mulled wine in each hand sounds favourite. Looks like it should stay mostly dry. Very mild here and got quite hot chopping logs. Monday looks chilly, according to the MetO app. Washout tomorrow.
  15. Thanks for the good wishes all. Nowt to say about the weather...back to meh it seems.
  16. Looked out at the murk at dawn, knowing that the doggies, irrespective of the weather, would want to look after my fitness by allowing me to take them out for a walk. The meh weather almost made me go back to bed for the extra 45 minutes, but their little faces - and, frankly, the outright begging - persuaded me. A rather sorry-looking sun came out mid morning, with some light rain later. 8C. It does feel a bit November though, at least. On a sad note, one of our three cats suddenly turned up through the catflap with what was obviously a broken leg and much (dried) bloodiness. We are quite rural and the close we live in is quiet, with just woods out the back, so it probably happened down there. We unfortunately suspect that she was caught in a trap as we have a pheasant breeder near us and there are many foxes. But she got out, and made it back home with 2 massive breaks in one of her back legs which had completely splintered. So when the vet asked us whether she'd be OK as a 3-legged cat, we just said that she made it back here, so please go ahead. It was a good sign that the vet thought Anya was 5 or 6 years old, as she's 11. Op is done, she's currently purring at the vets' assistants.
  17. Horrible afternoon here after light rain first thing then some sunnier stuff for the rest of the morning. Chilly, at 8.5c, and distinctly unpleasant now. Which is the cue for my lad to go out on his pizza delivery job. I don't need forecasts any more - just look at his rota instead. Poor sod.
  18. Morning all. It sounds quite windy out there but it isn't raining yet. It looks like the wet front is breaking up as it comes ENE, at least in this corner of the region. Still very mild. Meh weather.
  19. This is quite a meaty thunderstorm to wake to. The first thunder I heard was about an hour ago and seemed to rumble on for ages. Still regular lightning flashes and thunderclaps.
  20. Agreed, a tad w*nk to date. We almost got a frost so far. I live in hope, however.
  21. We were lonely without you, but survived. Are you the harbinger of coldy stuff?
  22. 2012. Same again please? Must be snow time. MK Angel is baaaackk. Yay.
  23. London and SE weather is talking about some much colder weather based on ECM models. "The ECM weather model likes the idea of putting the UK into the freezer by next weekend. The cold over Eastern Europe is astonishing considering it would only be mid-November. Discretion is advised as this is a projection of what COULD happen and certainly not what WILL happen. We could, however, be on the cusp of something very unusual and perhaps record breaking in some parts. Snow will certainly be a prominent feature here. " FB page here for more detail https://www.facebook.com/LSEweather?fref=nf ooh.
  24. Nice to see that one of the bonfire societies just carried on with the tradition, and exploded Salmond. Not because he's done anything wrong in particular, but because he is a public figure and should expect it. What is it that stops people wanting others to enjoy themselves? Sorry, should have been on a non-weather thread. Meh, now, 10.4C, overcast and waiting for the wet bits for a few days. Cold clear winter mornings will hopefully resume at some stage.
