  1. Looks like almost everywhere, lassie. Can't remember how to find the chart things which give rainfall estimates....I blame my age.
  2. Pickled or fried? It does indeed look horrible, but it is August BH, so it was only to be expected I suppose. Looks like it's really slow-moving if it's the same one as is currently infesting the Bristol Channel. L&SE weather is talking flood risk and 30-60mm of rain. MetO have a yellow warning out for most of the country.
  3. 6.6c at dawn here. Has been a pleasant day since, though I have been using a brushcutter so it's probably not as warm as I think it is.
  4. I looked on here http://www.weatherhq.co.uk/weather-station/lyneham but can't see anything below 5c* for any of the stations. Quite cool enough for August anyway. Iceni, We have a Euonymous in the garden which has wonderful autumn colours and is beginning to turn already, a good few weeks before usual. The bumper blackberry crop is also ripening off early, though we could do with some sun and warmth to finish it off. (Edit: *Benson went down to 3c at 4.50am 21-Aug)
  5. Definitely chillier with a low of 8.9c overnight. The doggie walk felt distinctly autumnal but the bright blue skies and sunshine made it all worthwhile. Currently up to 14c and looking forward to one last show of summertime (in FI).
  6. The strip of showers heading along the south coast has got some intense rainfall in it - just had about 5 minutes of stair-rods in between steadier rain. No electircal activity though.
  7. Short sharp shower here. Seemed to arrive our of nowhere on the radar. Bertha looks like taking a NNE direction...Portsmouth to W London?
  8. Two retrievers already. Had a good downpour overnight..an inch or more judging by the bucket outside. Tail will miss us judging by the radar. You'll be getting your garden watered I' guess
  9. BB54, have you become bitter in some way? It would be a shame if you are unable to spend less time sniping rather than enjoying the craic. So, big hugy tail thing will arrive here in about 7 hours. 16.5C, still, dark.
  10. There's a pretty good lump of showers heading up the channel, just getting to Portsmouth. The Bognor webcam still has people sitting on the beach...d'ya think we should tell them? Nah. http://www.bognorregisbeach.co.uk/live
  11. Steady rain here for the last five minutes but in very calm conditions. It was quite humid out there first thing when I took the dawgs out - worked up a sweat even though the temp is only about 17C, and the elder doggie slowed down to a snail's pace in protest at the humidity.
  12. Spot on. A lovely summer here this year, yet last year where so many people elsewhere in the UK enjoyed sun and warmth for weeks on end, we got the dreaded northeasterlies and could have counted the number of evenings suitable for a barbecue on one hand. Must admit to being a bit confused about the forecast now with the MetO app for my area showing a mainly sunny day tomorrow but with a weather warning for heavy rain.
  13. Dull day here, although it started off well with sunshine before clouding up at about 9am. Struggling to make it above 20C, so it feels quite cool after the heat of the last few days. Could use some rain for the garden, but it all seems a bit iffy for tonight.
  14. No thunder in it but a decent downpour anyway. Hopefully it will cool things down a bit.
  15. 24.8c in the bedroom, 19.4c on the balcony. Apart from the legions of bitey things, I'm almost tempted to move the bed outside. Update: Settled for the ceiling fan on full and the legrandfromage legs akimbo option. Hopefully Mrs stun12 is asleep downstairs. I've seen what she does to the turkey at Christmas.
  16. Nothing at all here today, though it started off feeling a bit muggy. Mostly sunny and a high of 26c; still currently 24.2c as no rain to cool it down. The usual far south-east miss. Talking of misses, a week ago I went up to Chelmsford for the beer festival and got a couple of lightning flashes and rumbles - back home there was a spectacular storm with the inland version of the Camber Sands video shown on here. Saturday night, when I was back in East Sussex, Chelmsford had great storms again. Just call me Jonah....
  17. It looks like it's going to end up to the west of you towards Portsmouth, but it is expanding as it passes over London. Might be a bit close, but I'm guessing no.
  18. It's been sunny since dawn but a few clouds popping up here and there now. 24.6c and 70% humidity.
  19. A less balmy 23.7c here, but not much in the way of a breeze. In recent summers the far south east has been plagued by north-easterlies, so it could be sunny but was not really that warm, and sitting outside towards sunset and after was distinctly chilly. Doing better this year so far. Heading to the Chelmsford beer festival on Friday, so will sample the weather over t'other side of the water, as well as the odd pint or eighteen. Can almost guarantee that any thunderstorms on Friday / Saturday will, as a result, be confined to East Sussex.
  20. Convection beginning to produce some rainfall here, though no rumbles or flashes yet. Temp has dropped from 24c this morning to 19c now though, so it may not last too long in the end. First rain for a good couple of weeks though.
  21. We seem to have gone straight from spring into autumn here. Eventually managed to creep up to 16.5c, but quite a breezy north-easterly which makes it feel chilly, especially as we haven't seen the sun at all today. Wish it would rain if it's going to be like this - may have to water the garden.
  22. The dogs were a bit twitchy, and I was wondering what was going on. It was their pasta and pilchards night (for the fish oils), so they're fed. and the patio doors are open. They come in to me to suggest that I go and see Mrs stun (akip on the sofa) urgently. She grunts when prodded. If they could have pointed at the sky, I think they would have done. I check the radar. Nothing. 20 hours ago there was a light shower here with a rumble of thunder in the distance. Golden Retrievers. Not the sharpest tool in the box.
  23. Must be time for my eldest son to cycle back from work at the DHL warehouse then! Doesn't live far though. Cloudy here at lunchtime, but generally sunny and rather sticky. High of 24c, currently 20.9c, warmer by the barbeque.
  24. Just a small flash here and a minor rumble. I blamed the dog initially. To the east of me, and quite a few miles away I think. Totally dry here today, as could be expected when we were relying on rain and thought that we wouldn't need to water in new planting from over the weekend.
  25. Some storms over the channel now but a way to the west and heading to Bournemouth. Humid night here, still 14.5c outside. Thanks to LSE for this site for lightning strikes http://www.lightningmaps.org/realtime?lang=en Turning 'stations' on is lots of fun.
