    There's another batch of showers coming out of the Liverpool area. Looks like they're heading for London area in about 3hrs or so. But will they be snow, if they don't evaporate on the way?

    But even if it does, Alex Deakin reiterated a few minutes ago that by the stage it reaches the South East, the snow will be confined to the hills. So maybe the less cold air (which is forecast for Friday) will already be in place?

    If this had been the 70s or 80s wouldn't have batted any eyelid at a bit of graupel/sleet. Just shows how snow starved we are these days. In the 80s, I remember us having a proper snow "event" at least once every year without fail.But then again Easterlies were the norm then. Rare as hen's teeth these days

    Well done for spotting it. But the BBC weather centre don't seem overly impressed with its potential. Whizzing through quite quickly, and might even just be rain or sleet on lower ground. Alex Deakin seemed to stress that the hills would be most likely to see any accumulations. I certainly won't be sitting up till 2am to see what happens. This weather lark is beginning to take over my life. Not good

    No "real" snow from this coolish spell I'm afraid. Just not cold enough or as unstable as people thought

    Sums it up really: Outlook for Saturday to Monday:Bright spells with rain, sleet and snow showers Saturday and perhaps Monday. Mostly dry and bright Sunday with wintry showers possible in the far east. Significant wind-chill at times. Updated at: 1549 on Thu 29 Jan 2015

    Tonight's snow doesn't sound up to much. Quote Alex Deakin "a little bit more snow, especially over hills". Seems to sweep through quite quickly too

    Pathetic really when the weather forecast was saying a day of sunshine and snow showers this morning. The squall line lasted longer yesterday

    Snow is specific to certain areas that are in the colder air. Seems that south of London is still rain. But still got that band to come that's north of London.

    Those showers are passing through very quickly. Can't see any showers behind the main band. That could be it. 10 mins of rain lol. Looks dry for everyone shortly I think?

    I think the idea is that the temp will drop this afternoon as the band of showers moves in. That's why the showers are showing as sleet on leading edge but increasingly shown as snow behind this

    You can understand it though TEITS. I blame it on too much information. Some which is extremely positive and then some which is very negative. So people on the forum don't know whether they are coming or going sometimes....but I think on the whole it is positive news we are seeing now.At least it's interesting weather whatever the outcome

    Stav on BBC weather just now. He sounded pretty adamant that it will just be rain or possibly sleet in the south east today and this evening. So not looking good one little bit. Rather it just stayed sunny tbh 5c as well, so hardly conducive of snow anyway

    This cold spell has promised so much. But looks to be a damp squib after all. Ok, so we've got a chance of some wet snow today and overnight. But then dry, a bit chilly and then next week back to type (ie the Atlantic).

    Maybe they should be more explicit saying something like "although the temperature will be around average, it will feel bitterly cold in the wind". Another bug bear is when they say during the winter "it will be warmer today". It can only be warmer if it is warm in the first place. "less cold" shouild be the appropriate phrase

    I don't know what models they use, but ITV weather is always very poor. The weather lady on there the other day said there would be up to "ten feet" of snow in some parts of the US. Ben and Susannah were astonised and believed it. TEN FEET???

    Looking good for today. The showers are beginning to gather in Wales and are starting to make progress Eastwards at last. They were a mixture of rain and snow earlier, but now nearly all have turned to snow according to the NW radar.

    I live in North Kent, but I think I'll give that one a miss, just on the off chance that we might get a light snow flurry. It's a new day tomorrow. And much more chance of seeing snow showers building late morning, lasting through to Friday morning.

    The Met Office must be dismissing all the charts regarding snow, which have been posted above. Alex Deakin says dry over the weekend (save for snow showers round coasts) and dry next week. 6c on Monday in the SE according to the map on BBC weather.

    I agree...if this is the case, then a really disapponting cold spell, apart from tomorrow's promised snow. And tbh, it doesn't even appear to be that cold next week. 6c on Monday is hardly perisishing. It was colder than that at the end of last week!

    Just saw the weather outlook by Alex Deakin on News 24.Good chance of snow on tomorrow. Then a lull in the afternoon followed by an increase in snow shower activity tomorrow night....and that's it, according to Alex Deakin. Dry for the whole country over the weekend apart from the coasts. And dry into next week as well, with no mention whatsoever of any fronts coming down from the north. But probably too far out I would say?

    Alex Deakin just said on BBC News 24 forecast that even the south could get 2cm from snow showers tomorrow. Judging by the graphics there will be a real rash of snow showers from late morning onwards tomorrow heading southeastwards

    LBC only updates its weather forecasts once a day lol

    I'm hoping for some advice please on the best free radars available please? The only one I use at the moment is "will it rain today", which I find ok as it updates every 15 mins, but it doesn't seem to show precipitation type? Are there any alternatives. Thank you.
