  1. Fingers crossed for today then, last time I saw lightning/heard thunder was 24th July 2009 in Cranbrook, Kent. Hoping something might pass UEA later this afternoon in Norwich
  2. I have just witnessed a dust devil in the courtyard of the University Village at UEA. It lasted for about 20 seconds, from what I could see. Hundreds of leaves were picked up, accompanied by dust/grit and other small material, they were hurtled around in a circular motion as the dust devil moved in a predominately northwest direction. People ran for cover/hid under their coats, it turned extremely gusty with small trees swaying. Otherwise it's been a relatively calm day with sunny spells, patchy cloud and a light breeze. Very interesting
  3. some sferics southeast of Romney/Dungeness in the Channel
  4. Just had a potent hail shower - welcome to April!
  5. I'm more particularly interested in the occlusion for this location, many forecast signals for it to intensify over the southeast with some pretty lively downpours, I wouldn't rule out the odd rumble and bit of hail and gusty winds as it passes Kent/Sussex early afternoon tomorrow.
  6. torrential rain and hail currently, and very gusty winds. Woke me up!
  7. grr yet again it diverts this part of Kent. Haven't seen lightning/heard thunder since 24th July 2009
  8. Lightning over SE Kent now, around Romney Marsh Edit: latest update shows lightning moving further inland, directly to my south
  9. That large mass of heavy rain has, just like last week, become electrified in places in the Channel
  10. Ah I see lightning came from that cell over NW Kent across the Medway/Dartford/Grain area Would confirm the high cloud tops I spotted earlier
  11. Tasty looking cell move eastwards across Surrey into W/NW Kent currently, not electric yet but looks nice on radar. I can see some pretty high cloud tops to my north lit up by the setting sun.
  12. Quite a few heavy showers passing through here, some still falling when the sun is back out shining, but sadly nothing electrical... yet.
  13. I'm the other side of that cell over W Kent - Moderate rain here with gusty winds. But sadly nothing else.
  14. as usual Harry eh, the Kesurex effect in full force
  15. warm spells of milky sunshine here, fingers crossed.
  16. Ooh sferics on the eastern side of the Channel leaving France fingers crossed!
  17. I was referring to the ATD network, but yes there are sferics on there now
  18. Interesting line of showers over Channel, some heavy rainfall in those though no sferics yet.
  19. Showers appear to be exploding over the English Channel, and over the Cherbourg Peninsula! Intense radar echoes too  Just coming into the range of the public ATD, some strikes detected. it's more West Sussex/Surrey/East Hampshire likely to get that big one.
  20. Saw the first wasp of the year here today, along with some storm flies. Must be humid! According to latest GFS, Kent & Sussex need to keep an eye on the Cherbourg peninsula area mainly for any possible action later on...
  21. NMM is showing yesterday's 12z output? No availability either of yesterday's 18z, or today's 0z, 6z or 12z's
