  1. I see Heart is still waffling on about the potential of a further 20cm! When will they learn!?
  2. Big thaw here! My poor 23cm being reduced quickly! Raining moderately, then it changes to snow, then back to rain. How odd. Drip drip drip
  3. What a complete and utter shambles. I am not too annoyed I didn't see anymore snow last night, but what annoyed me is the way that BBC, MetO and Sky were still harking about 15cm more to come in the SE and 2-5cm in London all the way through the night when it was very clear it wasn't going to happen! I can't believe how inaccurate they have been in the last 24 hours. The early warning for the SE was due until 23:59 today but I see the MetO have finally removed this a lot earlier. So, I end this cold spell with 23cm of snow - not bad! But it appears to be thawing quicker today as temps and dewpoint are now above freezing!
  4. pepping up in eastern Estuary? Edit: sorry Jason, just seen your post
  5. must be a thaw, yet again the stuff on the passenger side of my car is sliding off. It usually does this everyday, but gets replaced by further snow overnight. Instead, it is falling off as I speak. Grr thaws Meanwhile snow is getting a little heavier, winds are picking up.
  6. I feel that is the way it is going. Above freezing maxima for the next few days seems likely, with a slow and painful thaw of lying snow. Clear skies overnight mean ice could be more of a major hazard this week than last week because the melting snow will turn to slush and freeze. Edit: that line over the channel does seem to be heading back NWwards now - how odd!
  7. oh - precip developing to the east of Kent in last half an hour? warm front still over France according to 22z MetO Pressure chart!
  8. looking at the rest of that run the only noticeable precip is for that small strip of Kent/Sussex, and then the Midlands northwards. I hate to say this, but I don't think anything's going to happen now
  9. Not for tonight - but still interesting! http://212.100.247.145/fax/PPVO89.png Still snowing wet snow here, lightly
  10. oh for god's sake, even Liam Dutton is saying a further 15cm in Kent, Sussex and Essex and 2-5cm in London! How?!
  11. yes same here - oh dear! Seems the warm front is warmer than first thought!
  12. Pretty much all the models, even the UKMO is now saying the snow will be for the Midlands northwards with very little in the south. What a backtrack! Nevertheless, keep an eye on the radar.
  13. I did post that about an hour ago. That is what worries me. The Midlands northwards and westwards look best
  14. Just been out for a measure, 23 flat cm. I seriously have not seen this much snow in my life!
  15. indeed! a customer bought 12 loaves of bread on Wednesday! Snowing very lightly now, winds eased looks sleety in nature. Temp back up to 0.1C
  16. OK the past few GFS runs have been showing this. Snow continuing in Kent/East Sussex in particular all night and affecting coastal Essex, Suffolk and later Norfolk. Outbreaks of light snow develop over the SW and south Wales tomorrow morning, and across the Midlands and the rest of Wales during the afternoon, heavy on the hills by evening. This leaves a rather large hole over most the Home Counties, including London, and parts of central southern England away from the south coast. This is how I feel things are going, but I hope I am wrong for you guys Admittedly the snow looks lighter on the radar now compared to earlier.
  17. The upper warm front hasn't even left the French coast yet according to the 18z FAX!
  18. Apologies to those further NW + W. If there was anything I could do to give you some I would. It's not our fault we keep getting pummeled by snow, it's due to the weather. Just think, how long will it take before all this melts!? Will go for a measure at 9pm to see if it's any deeper. It's still snowing lightly but blizzardly.
  19. Seeing as it's an upper weather front, is there a chance it may be evaporating before it hits the ground in the lighter stuff, hence the reports of nothing on the ground despite the radar indicating otherwise? Just a thought
  20. I fear I may need to borrow a metre rule from someone shortly if this snow doesn't stop - my 30cm ruler won't be long enough I fear. Goodness knows how many weeks it's going to take to melt this lot!
  21. ah I don't mind, I've been meaning to change my username for ages, I PM'ed Paul about a month ago but it must've got lost in the transmission  Still, it continues to snow
