  1. Slid around a bit on the way to work this morning (Miskin way). Have to question whether it had been gritted at all to be honest. I'm not a model watcher, but a model watcher watcher. I am stalking the mental model thread with renewed interest.....
  2. Hurrah - Andymusic's back at his (near) best. "Risque de neige" - very enchante Andy, very enchante! I have a little song here, join in if you know the tune... Que sera sera, whatever will be will be, so long as it snows on me, que sera sera (repeat ad nauseum). I am convinced that if enough of us on the NW Cymru/Wales thread sing this song over and over, then snow, ice and all manner of cold weather will come our way.
  3. Had a foot of fresh snow here today and more coming down throughout the next 36 hours - non-stop according to meteo. Not currently in cardiff though but still, thought i'd post for the snow lovers amongst us. In the alps the roads are open and so are the bars. Apres ski - can't complain!!
  4. Had some very heavy bursts of dry snow this PM in work (not far from Llantrisant). Didn't come to anything but was nice to see. The strong wind made it quite a blizzard, but very short-lived. Interesting times....
  5. Have a journey planned for Sunday up to the South Midlands, staying overnight and back late afternoon Monday. What do you reckon peeps? At the moment, I still plan to go, but will need to keep an eye out for info nearer to the time. Looks to me as if the METO think there will be snow with significant amounts and disruption for some, but have little idea yet as to where exactly will get hammered. As higher res models come into play there will more than likely be massive downgrades for some and upgrades for others. Where will the white stuff fall in big amounts? Wales hopefully!
  6. Lovely day for it.... Very picturesque around Cardiff/Groesfaen today. Sunny, cold and snowy. Not much of a thaw today and bitter out there tonight. Is it nailed on for rain in my patch tomorrow, or is there some hope of seeing some falling snow? Any (positive!) comments welcomed.....
  7. Netweather: http://www.netweather.tv/index.cgi?action=radar;sess= Raintoday: http://www.raintoday.co.uk/ Which is best - raintoday looks to be bringing more PPN my way, so I prefer raintoday today
  8. No idea - hopecasting!! Probably won't be worth anything even if it does head our way, but who knows - today has shown, if nothing else, that the weather is very difficult to predict. Watching the radar beats doing the washing up at least! What's a WUM TonyH?
  9. More showers appearing around Southampton - they look to have name on them!! Still plenty of winter left - what are some on about - the end of winter my a**e. Feb and March (and even April sometimes) often deliver. A brief return to mild seems likely, but longer term we have plenty of time for more cold (and hopefully snowy) weather. Keep the faith folks- it's not over til...... (complete with your own choice of endings).
  10. Must be a relief after last night's disappointment. ENJOY!!
  11. If it was ten miles to the east.... ...I would be in winter wonderland!!
  12. MetO amber warning really made me laugh this morning. Issued at 10am, valid from 10.05. Hilarious - seat-of-the-pants forecasting if ever there was!!
  13. It's still only January Alijoe. Milder weather forecast for the end of the week (I'm no weatherman, just what folk are saying), but Feb and March are often a good bet for a cold snap and bucketloads of the lovely white stuff. This is not the beginning of the end. It's the end of the beginning!!
  14. Snowing a bit heavier in Cardiff at the mo. Don't really know where it's coming from (comments like "the sky" or "the clouds" are not really needed here, but feel free if it makes you fell like a stand-up). Light PPN showing on raintoday, but not so much on netweather radar. Looking good around Swansea/Llanelli - looks to be beefing up a bit as well. ENJOY!!
  15. Very light snow in Cardiff atm. Very slushy underfoot, but no thaw yet apart from the ground.
  16. Absolutely shellacking it down in the west of cardiff atm. Lovely jubbly!! Hope it keeps going for a while (like rain today shows) as opposed to stopping before long (as NW radar suggests). The battle of the radars - sounds like a Dr Who episode
  17. Coming down a treat here at the moment. Probably coming to the end of it for Cardiff for the night before long, but looks to be set in for a few mile north for a little while more. Any Cardiff-ians reckon we'll get a bit more tonight? Edit - rain today showing more PPN around for Cardiff in the coming hours, but NW Radar showing PPN dying out. confused.com
  18. Can you put your location in your profile please
  19. Light to moderate in my patch at the moment. Starting to stick to cars and the patio despite the earlier thaw. Would like heavier now, please, just to make sure that the kids get another snow day tomorrow. Hoping to get the sledge out again in the morning, but have to take a child with me. Looks a bit odd without one!
  20. RCT have cancelled school transport for tomorrow (http://www.rctcbc.go...ltransport.aspx). Not sure myself if it will hit the valleys that hard. Hopefully get some more of the white stuff in my back yard tho! PPN seems to be tracking westwards - may miss S Wales completely - come back this way!! OVER HERE!!
  21. Looks as if it's heading right for us in the SE of Wales. Bring it on - COME TO DADDY!!!
  22. Looks like it could be heading our way. Radar watching it is then....
  23. Snowing again in Cardiff. I expect it to be brief as the radar isn't showing much. Looks like sporadic showers beefing up as they come over the bristol channel. Quite surprised that it's sticking on the ground etc as it was thawing gently beforehand. Nice big flakes.
