  1. How about this one - An explosion at the local creamery, combined with locally cold weather conditions, could lead to a significant amount of cold and white stuff accumulating. COULD = maybe = probably not. Mr Floori is well known for his mental predictions, and he (very) occasionally comes up with the goods.
  2. As it's so quiet, I'd thought I'd post a piccy of Ponty form december 2010 (just outside Andy's house): Looks like a fairly quiet period on the way for us in the near future. Pity, because chances of anything particularly wintery is lessening as the days get longer (although we are not out of the winter period yet, and I am not giving up hope).
  3. I'll go with the 60% chance aswell Elnonio. Can't agree that it's milder in Cardiff tho - i'd be wearing gloves in the house if I could type with them on. Boiler's been going full blast for the last four days. I was wearing a skiing hat in the kitchen this morning! Must be getting old
  4. TonyH gives a good weekly forecast usually towards the end of the weekend. Countryfile tomorrow is worth a watch. Check out netweather's forecast (via the home page) or metcheck.com - I think the main problem is people being unwilling to put themselves in a position of being totally wrong. With (apparently) plenty of differences in the model output it would appear difficult to say what's likely to occur. The model-threaders are a funny bunch, some love the cold, and therefore can find cold possibilities in whichever model shows the coldest output, others are mild-lovers, so look for the mild outcomes. Others are just there to wind other people up. Best plan - look out of the window!
  5. Light snow pretty much all day here. Now turning to rain, but still a little bit of "winter" in it. Looking forward to the week ahead now. Interesting times.
  6. Good luck Alijoe!! More knowledgeable posters on here are saying we'll have some more chances over the next few days so don't give up. Magor will have snow one day!
  7. That's quite remarkable TonyH. The difference in temps over a 30mile distance must be huge!
  8. Have had VERY light snow for about an hour in west Cardiff. Hoping for some more but realistically, snow to rain is the most likely outcome. Next week - who knows? Radar and lamp post watching will probably be my major activity outside work next week. Quite a sad existence really. Come on snow - fall on me! Just had a look at the raintoday radar - the weather front is moving in at a fair old pace, definitely quicker than I had hoped for. We'll see what develops during the next couple of hours.
  9. Sorry boys - Sue Charles (BBC) is not ramping in any way. She said at the end of her forecast that the chances of heavy snow were decreasing. I can't see it coming to much personally apart from the extreme eastern fringes of Wales and the higher ground. Am still confused that the BBC and the METO are going for much milder weather in the week ahead (at least for the next five days). Mixed messages??
  10. Both metcheck and netweather forecasts are showing snow/sleet in Cardiff for tuesday. I know it's subject to change, but at least we're having some interesting weather atm. Makes it worthwhile seeing as it's been freezing for the last couple of days. What a fab day . -6 according to the car in the middle of Cardiff first thing and a beautiful sunny day. We'll see what tomorrow brings.
  11. Sorry - the METO are full of it. 8 - 10 degrees by next tuesday? Methinks their having a laugh, or at least have got some idiot doing the online weather forecast. Maybe that why they've advertised (Andy's post) - maybe all the decent forecasters have resigned, and the office cleaner is filling in until someone else gets the job :S
  12. The METO are going for milder weather coming in Monday and Tuesday, so I'm getting a bit confused. I don't know if I'll be sunbathing or snowboarding atm.
  13. Met office hedging their bets somewhat on all forecasts apart from tomorrow (which is cold and dry - no s**t sherlock). They are clearly expecting a cold feb but are not committing to anything concrete from friday onwards. Lets just say i'm keeping an eye on things......
  14. Someone got out of bed the wrong side methinks. CHILL OUT Weathermaster. I know England are gonna stuff the scots on the weekend, but Wales will kick some Irish butts and get loads of snow - happy days!!
  15. Just been outside. Won't be doing that again in a hurry :cold:
  16. Bloody cold!! Snowed most of the day in work but nothing sticking - too wet. Nice to see the hills/mountains white in the background tho. We'll have to see what comes of the next few days - hopefully get some snow, but ...........
  17. Pethau od yn digwydd o hyd! Sa i'n credu bod neb wir yn gwybod beth sy'n mynd i ddigwydd yn 100%. Mae heddiw/heno yn enghraifft berffaith o hynny - rhybuddio rhag ofn, a rhai yn gweld rhywfaint o eira ac eraill dim byd. Strange things happen! I don't think anyone can 100% predict what will happen with snow. Today/tonight is a good example.
  18. Agree. Very strange. As you say, things COULD get better overnight, but...... I'd be gutted if I set my alarm for 3am, only to look out of the window to see more light drizzle. I agree with Ryan mac - Cardiff's weather is **** (and the **** does not spell SNOW, although it does start with "S")
  19. Do you genuinely think that there will be a semi-significant amount of snow overnight Shaun? We need some positive thoughts/posts for those of us who are feeling fed up with our current weather and outlook!!
  20. Fair comment CW, but METO warning was for 3.30pm onwards, then NAE for 6pm onwards, and there seems to be patchy snow, sleet, rain, drizzle (mostly the latter three) and signs that the front is weakening on the radar as it moves further south and east(ish). Getting ready to throw the towel in personally.
  21. I've got fake grass which I replace with white fake grass every winter so it always looks snowy in my garden. In the summer I put a life size lion model in the garden so it looks like the african savannah. The kids love it, well they did until they reached their teenage years. now they think i'm a complete loser. Ah well it's all bo**ocks really (including the weather in Cardiff).
  22. The only "it" that's going to hit cardiff is th "sh" variety i reckon. Good luck to those with a bit of altitude, but I think it'd going to be a non-event in the capital. :wallbash: :wallbash: :wallbash: :wallbash: :wallbash:
