  1. A few flakes of snow hidden in the rain shower here. Not anything to write home about atm. May beef up a bit with evaporative cooling - we'll see. Really hope that we get some decent snowfall on Friday/Saturday {doing snow dance as we speak/type}
  2. Thanks - it helps us sad-o's know if snow is heading our way if we know where everyone is. Welcome to the forum - a proper collection of psychotic snow seekers desperate for a flake or two! [Edit - a flake of snow as opposed to a Cadbury's Flake -although the way the weather is in my patch at the moment (rain, rain, rain) I may start on the christmas chocalate]
  3. Please put your location in your profile so we know where you are.
  4. Bit of sleety stuff falling from the sky at the moment, but not worth getting excited about. Hoping for better later in the week.......
  5. Had sweet FA in my bit of Cardiff. Typical. Expect pretty much the same for the rest of the week. Not happy :[
  6. Just arrived back in the capital after an hour or so on the M4 (coming in from the East). Had a bit of snow around Stroud/Bath, and sleet the rest of the way. Looking forward to see what pans out in the next few days. Have left a pagan offering at the foot of the nearest lampost, and am considering sending my wife out to do her snow dance once the temperatures drop a little.
  7. Just been out in the garden - it's very mild. A blanket of cloud overhead - looking very grey. Had some quite thick frost on the car this morning which was a change. Haven't had to scrape the windscreen for quite a while. It seems unlikely to me that we can go from mild and boring (re. the weather for the last month) to something exceptional in the matter of 24/48 hours. On a more positive front, I am 99.9% certain of seeing snow in the next few weeks. I'm off to the Alps for a week's skiing. Bring it on!
  8. Come on Keith - the models struggle to predict the weather next week, let alone 98 years into the future (LOL)
  9. I am unable to understand why expressing anti- or pro-english feelings have anything to do with the Wales Regional Weather (hopefully winter) forum. Clearly there are some unionist and some nationalist members of the forum, and political views are best expressed elsewhere. For the sake of balance, I find comments stating how great the jubilee was somewhat of an affront however am not about to enter into a long discursive regardingthe historical development of relations between Wales and England on a weather forum. Anti- or pro-english - either all can express their opinions without getting slated or nobody should. I vote for the latter.
  10. Don't want to appear ignorant, but what is the SSW event and how could it effect Wales' weather? I get a little confused at times with the technical language and the never-ending acronyms!
  11. That's going to be a pain when (or if??) the snow starts falling. It's always a laugh plotting the progress of any snow by the number of emoticons that appear in the posts!
  12. Where are you Mike? Location not in your blurb.
  13. Just had a look at metcheck. They use GFS for their shorter term forecast, which shows colder weather and a bit of drizzly snow for me in Cardiff on Monday (still a way off). They use a different model (MRS10) for longer term forecast. I would love to see a bit of snow this year, but it all seems a bit in the balance at the moment, with the Met Office and BBC getting splinters in the bums from sitting on the fence. Anyone want to cheer me up? Where's Andy with his smileys etc?!?
  14. I'm working on an alphabetic pattern for the weather at the moment (similar to the system used for naming hurricanes etc). For the last fortnight, we have been in a "D" phase: Dreary Damp Diflas (boring for those who don't use Welsh) Drizzly Depressing The next phase will clearly be dominated by "E" phase weather: Extreme Exciting Easterly Eira (snow for the monologists) Looking forward to Freezing February!!
  15. Welcome to my (our) life in Wales this year. Mega-disappointment on a number of occasions. Radar showing bugger-all for Wales in terms of ppt.ion. Off to hibernate until next December. Nos da (from Derek).
  16. Sorry for the lack of a formal welcome from the valleys and beyond. Welcome to Wales with it's (this winter) boring and zonal weather.Usually you would expect a warm welcome or (in the winters of 2009 and 2010) a quite cold welcome, this year's winter has only allowed us a mild welcome. Hope your journey home is safe and snow-free.
  17. Ssoooooo....... Another disappointment for Wales and the weather? Welsh idiom: eira man, eira mawr (small flakes/snow, big snow. New alternative: no snow, no snow (dim yw dim).
  18. So quiet in here. Hello - is there anybody out there?? Bbc 5 live talking about snow for scotland nw england and n ireland. Wales is having no weather at all. What a bag if s***e!! ;(
  19. WOS APNIN??? With the potential for snow this weekend, I'd expect more action on the forum. Is the quietness a reflection of the unlikeliness of any snow of worth, or are the rest of them battoning down the hatches in preperation for a week of total chaos due to 0.5cm of snow?!?!?!?!
  20. Na - PAID!! Ni'n cael eira yn aml yn ystod cyfnod yma'r gaeaf. Chwefror, Mawrth ac Ebrill weithiau yn dod a tywydd gaeafol, oer ayyb. No DON'T!! We often get snow in this part of the winter. Feb, March and sometimes April deliver the cold and wintery weather.
  21. BBC news24 forecast didn't look to shabby IMBY. Cardiff/north Cardiff looking in the sweet spot if they're right. Let it snow, Let it snow, Let it snow (provide your own tune)
  22. Alijoe - you nicked my question! Answers on a postcard.... It feels to warm for anything worthwhile atm in west cardiff. Don't think I'll be staying up watching the lamp post tonight ;(
  23. METO website shows Eastern Wales (including Cardiff) with a yellow warning of snow, but the visuals/forecast shows drizzle and rain. confused.com
