  1. Snowing in Nantgarw. The cloud has come down low. I'm working until gone 6 tonight, so hopefully will miss traffic.
  2. Someone has just forwarded this email from someone who is a Met Office Advisor (civil contingencies)
  3. The thing I find interesting about this one is that it has been unwavering. I think I asked for tomorrow off on Monday (all leave is (allegedly) banned at the moment). Other "snowmageddons" have been on / off / on / off will / it won't it shifting further ahead in time before disappearing and disappointing, but this has just stood solid 3am on Friday.
  4. After reading these posts, I looked out the window to see gentle flakes of snow in Nangarw.
  5. I feel that the weather these last two days has seemed more wintery than the big downpours. It's depressing, the low cloud, grey skies, miserable drizzle, it even seems like the evenings have drawn in rapidly as it's so gloomy.
  6. I am in a caravan just noth of Abergavenny and the awning is under water. Any idea when it might ease off? We are going to the pub for lunch so it's shoes and socks off to get to the car.
  7. Before leaving work I was asked about the snow tonight "oh there's no snow for tonight" It's snowing in Caerphilly. A bit wet, but I'd say it's more snow than sleet.
  8. Well that was a lovely rainbow just outside my window. The primary was very bright, the secondary was decent and there was the hints of a third one (other people saw it too, so I wasn't imagining things)
  9. I didn't agree with you earlier, Andy, but blimey, it's dark here now. My windows have steamed up, so I can't see outside tidy, but it's certainly wintry showers now.
  10. Hi everyone again. My car got some wind damage yesterday. I'd just parked it in my garage to keep it safe and the wind blew a door that was leaning against the wall (and the smaller bits of wood leaning against it) onto my car . Doh. I got my car back out of the garage with help from hubby to make sure it got out safe and this morning it was covered with frost :diablo: The weather doesn't like me this week
  11. At around 12:50 yesterday I saw what I called a "rainbow cloud", but since have found out it's a circumhorizon arc. I didn't have my camera, so took this pic with my phone. I was watching it for a good 10 minutes as I was driving to work and it was a lot better before I got there. As I understand it, it's extremely rare in the UK, so I was chuffed to see it (even though it's nowhere as fab as the ones you can see in America - or on internet ). All I've done on this pic is crop the bottom off This one is a zoom And this one is a rough "enhancement"
  12. Just back from skiing in Tignes and you were spot on, a very good week's skiing indeed. Bloomin freezing at times but was warmer by yesterday - a whole minus 1 in the village yesterday afternoon, but freezing in the night. Sun cream is a definite must. My nose is bright red.
  13. Cardiff. So unless it's really snowy, I guess we'll be OK. Anyway, the last load of FIs didn't come to much, so I'm assuming this one won't. Of course that will make it certain that it WILL snow. It's like my mother is a good weather forecaster. She lives in Bristol and without fail I have to put a weather warning out when she visits as it ALWAYS rains.
  14. It's just as well I don't believe in FI as I don't want it to be snowing at the end of next week. 3 days snow, then massive heat to melt it before the Friday would be nice. It would be typical bad luck if I couldn't go skiing due to snow shutting the airport.
  15. Well I missed all the fun today Although I was admiring the heavy sleet in Cardiff whilst sat in the jacuzzi. It was a miserable walk home in the cold rain from the station.
  16. Looks sleety here (Nantgarw) but is almost horizontal. Yup, pool is indoors.
  17. And here in Nantgarw. As long as I get into Cardiff in an hour, I'll be watching it from the swimming pool
  18. There's snow particles in the air here too, both Caerphilly and Nantgarw.
  19. It even snowed later that day. Let's hope we get snow again when I'm there this April.
  20. Not quite June, but this was 6th April 2008, we were sleeping in the extension to the awning when we woke up to a snow covering. We were at Pandy, north of Abergavenny.
  21. "hooray" I think it's quiet in here tonight as we have a 100% snow risk, guaranteed. 100% that the risk is zero tonight. I expect tomorrow may be a bit livelier.
  22. The speed it took the phone to get onto this page, it will be quicker to walk than beam. Perhaps I will be able to point it at the sky and say "snow" just as the snow starts (because you've all posted that it's snowing) and impress the other commuters.
  23. I have got a works jolly at a spa in Cardiff tomorrow afternoon and have spent the last hour or so setting my new phone up with links to this forum and the weather reports, ready for my journey home on the train.
  24. Nothing at all in Nantgarw. There were a few flakes in Caerphilly as I left and the cars coming down from Abertridwr were a little bit covered on their windscreens. Red Dragon's "weather man" was quoting off the MetOffice saying "up to 7cm of snow for Caerphilly and Newport" !!!!
