  1. Im top end of Merthyr and there's a nice little covering on the cars and grass now but the roads are completely clear. Feels a little milder out as well.
  2. Unfortunately we're not going to get the precip without the rise in temps. Such a knife edge situation.
  3. There's nothing to choose at the moment between 2-5cm of snow on Monday or persistent drizzle. It really is a toss of the coin at the moment and that is unbelievable given how close we are. Warm air meeting cold is notoriously difficult to forecast
  4. Sleety up here but absolutely freezing out in the wind
  5. Isn't it amazing that the difference between a very wintry ending week with lots of snow or a very mild ending week with gales and heavy rain is all down to the low moving a couple of hundred miles to a more favoured position or the position of it stalling against the block. All the charts, data etc and really it just boils down to something as simple as that.I honestly dont think the charts/METO have a got a clue beyond Thurday, possibly Wednesday. Is it fair to say to say that most weather data centres struggle forecasting blocking around the UK? I
  6. So some are saying "pressure is being eroded from both ends" and others are saying "pressure looks stronger on this run"........are we looking at the same charts???!!!! It must be an absolute nightmare for newcomers looking into this thread.
  7. Just rain up here guys.Feels very raw though.
  8. Im a relative newbie to this forum but i clearly remember the GFS constantly trying to break down the 2010 cold spell with insane lows out in FI.The experienced posters pointed out that it desperately tries to get back to it's default setting of an Atlantic pattern. As many have pointed out, lets get the cold first then worry about any attacks from the Atlantic. Also,i think the mods on here are being very leniant regarding some obvious winding up posts.
  9. Very gentle snow here but decent size flakes.Temps gone up from 0 to 2c in last hour.
  10. Light snow flurries up here, bit earlier than i expected to be honest.
  11. Im live very close to one of those heads of the valleys traffic cams and whilst there are a few cm's on grass banks, parked cars etc it's nowhere near "disruptive" and, maybe, that's a good thing. Just come back from a quick walk with the dog and it's still very sleety.
  12. Looking a bit better now but still waiting for the "proper" snow.....all still very wet at the moment if u know what i mean. Having said that,it's starting to stick on the side roads now but the radar is saying there's not a great deal left of this front.
  13. Go to bed mate.Looking at the radar the front is dying out and if I'm struggling at my height then I think we're all in trouble.
  14. It's actually turning back to sleet/rain up here now.Nothing on the roads and it's disappearing off the cars rapidly. Tad disappointing so far to be honest.
  15. Sticking here now on grass and cars, about 1cm,but roads still clear. According to the latest charts, this could be a very short lived affair so make the most of the next few days if you're lucky enough to see any snow.
  16. Very gradually snow getting heavier here but still yet to stick and still "damp" feeling rather than cold, snowy feeling if you get what i mean. Im supposed to be in a prime location for tonights snow so i'll update as often as i can.
  17. Heads of the valley near Merthyr and it's light snow now,not sticking yet.
  18. At least 10cm up here and still falling quite moderately.
  19. bit early to start a panic but the front seems very slow and it has a bloody long way to travel to reach me before sunlight!!!
  20. Ian,sorry for hijacking the SW thread but i'd love to hear what you think of South Wales chances of snow overnight?
