SNOW CRYSTAL

Well guys, i guess I will keep the faith a little longer then. Who am I kidding, i've been following the forum for the last 5 years or so and I'm not likely to quit any year soon. Model , radar and lampost watching is facinating stuff. I have learnt so much over the years, it just becomes more addictive. However, after the last few years and all it's disappointments, I have learnt to keep my expectations low. I have an Auto-immune disease which prevents me from going out in the sun, so Im afraid I wont be praying for a heatwave but I do hope for a warm (not hot!!) rest of spring before we roll into the endless damp that we call summer. Just to keep on topic, still bone dry and blustery here,(really must get myself a weather station me thinks).

Breezy and dry here this morning, feeling pretty cold in the wind. Sounds like our chances for the end of the week are deminishing with each run. Would love to be proved wrong though!!!

Yes I feel the same way khodds. It bothers me when snow is forecast for the SW in 4-5 days time. It does usually move North or South or just peters out around us. Yet another frustrating winter in my neck of the woods, 1 day of lying snow. I know there are folk on here who've hardly seen a flake all winter so maybe I'm lucky, but not as lucky as those in the North!!!

Great day for us weather geeks. Some amazing hail storms, can't remember the last time the hail was that large. Covered the ground in no time and some thunder and lightening thrown in.

Good morning all, beautiful but bitterly cold day here on South Dartmoor, I'm still wincing at our lack of snow but really pleased that the SE didn't steal it all from our region. Haven't got time to look at the models this morn, but what are our chances for the rest of the week please? Wow sounds great so long as people are listening to warnings and staying safe. What totals are you up to this morning?

Really hope you get at least a little something, you've kept the faith all the way through this winter, you deserve more than a flake or two.

I must be just the wrong side of the 'snow shield'. A few flakes earlier but that's it I'm afraid.

Can't see i'm afraid, I'm facing Cadover, was looking pretty white a couple of hours ago when i was out and about. Id go for a drive but have a workman here :0(

Mainly sunny spells here. No snow for the past couple of hours, maybe just as well, carpenter refitting our kitchen, has turned water off, including the central heating!!

Had light snow showers this morning for a few hours but sun shining through now. Dont suppose I'll see anymore but I love the wind and the chill it brings, but that's easily said because I'm tucked up in my lounge. I really feel for all you guys who have to work outside today, a snow dance might warm you up :0) Great to hear the Channel Islands are doing so well. They're more snow starved than us Devonians, some very happy kiddies I think.

Oh dear failed again!!! Trying not to sound downbeat but yesterday Dartmoor was in a great position, 10-15cm with drifting, to wake up to not even a dusting is a tad disappointing. I tried not to give the kids false hope yesterday but not looking forward to seeing their faces when they wake up. I'd say roll on summer but I can't go out in the sun so this was my time of year. Oh well roll on Autumn!!!

Snow or no snow I'm loving the sound of the blustery gusts outside, actually sounds more like winter than early spring.

No you're not alone Twister, haven't seen a flake so far but live in hope. Really hope you and Cornwall do well, you both deserve it. I have seen a little bit of snow this winter so still better than 2011/2012, can't complain too much.

Oh dear I was hoping to see a few flakes before dark, perhaps tomorrow morning!! No street lights here so have to creep down to the cold kitchen in the middle of the night to turn on the security light but not until a flake or 2 has landed on the velum window upstairs. Fluffy slippers at the ready!!!

Still dry here in South Dartmoor. Nothing coming out of the skies since the blustery rain showers this morning. Time will tell.

I really hope you get something out of this Twister, it's got to be your turn surely!! Dont give up hope, it's such a close call, a few miles either way isnt much in weather terms.

Nice car, could come in handy!! Only rain here in Yelverton. Is that a Touraeg (spelling?) am jealous if it is, snow and a cool car, how greedy.

Well Fred, apparently there are lots of people who get excited about a few flakes of snow and I'm one of them, each to their own I say, but what I don't understand is this. If snow isn't your cup of tea, then fine, but why bother posting here when you know that most of the posters are having a great time anticipating the outcome of the next few days? Don't worry the dreary, mild mush will be back before you know it and your body parts will soon be warm again!

Well, anyone getting excited yet? What are the chances of this going belly up again? I will try to stay calm for as long as possible but great looking charts though. Fingers crossed yet agian!!!

How desperate can we all get? I still have 2 snowballs in my freezer from 2010. May have to make a mini snowman of my own. Did get a few flurries this morning which was a nice surprise. Can anybody explain why more sun during this cold spell would give a harder frost, thanks?
