Just look at how the PV is modelled in FI, it is completely different to the 6z. Junked beyond 144 I think.
You have confidence that it is correct upto T144 then?

Max of 9.8c today, wind seems to be picking up quite a lot now.

Low of 0.1 overnight, warmed to 5.4c by dawn. There is a strong breeze and it still feels cold

It really really could swing both ways, I can't remember a time where things are so finely balanced.

I don't think we are in a position to discuss the longevity of this potential north easterly yet , because how do we know what would happen after that? It may be that it allows a ridge in the Atlantic to build behind the low, or it may allow the high over Russia to pull west, infact it's not like it would go against the signals is it? I mean we have no PV our side of the pole , so with just the residual lows in the Atlantic with no PV feeding them surely it won't take much to kill the power of the lows as they come against a big block?
Or more importantly how do we even know what happens before LOL

The GFS ensembles were showing a cold spell between 21st and xmas earlier in the week, then it disappeared, it COULD be that GFS is back on with a cold spell around xmas time?? - it give us something to talk about anyway

It may well be turning unsettled but it's not going to be paticulary mild across the majority of the UK and in strong winds it will feel pretty chilly one suspects.
It could be worse :-)

You can tell that there is no more cold weather on the horizon when they are arguing in the model thread about whether something is zonal or not , all very exciting stuff!!!!!

From a IMBY perspective the most decent cold spells of recent winters have come before xmas, so if this theme continues for this winter then things don't bode well if this current cold spell is it LOL
