Not sure what there is to see these days that isn't out on the net, unless they know some weaknesses with the models and manually adjust. But there are no warnings , no model raw output supports snow for our region, the automated forecasts above the text forecast show no snow. I think it's just a lazy text forecast, happens all the time in less crucial situations that the text forecast seems like it has been written by someone not quite sure on the region they are writing for. Storm Arwen wasn't showing as snow on any model and we got some, that is the only hope I have . Saturday looks good for a thin slice , of South Yorks and N Midlands. Typically for me, tomorrows is too far north and Saturdays too far south. Maybe some wet snow showers tomorrow evening but they will rattle through with little impact on the strongs winds with temps between 1 and 3c.

Unfortunately doesn't look like any snow now for us unless you are high up on the Dales in the far North of Yorkshire . Can't see a single model that shows any lying snow here anymore. The UKV looked interesting last night but the 03z and 06z show temps only dropping to 2-4c during the precipitation. Saturdays snow also looks like far south of region only and going south all the time. So one system too far North and another too far South! Not sure why the Met Office text forecast is more optimistic , there is literally no model that shows widespread snow tomorrow morning, maybe a couple of the MOGREPS ensembles but that is like 2/17 show a couple of cm tomorrow morning.

Met Office said gusts to 55mph on their text forecast today. Leeds/Bradford 69mph Emley Moor 83mph Curse of the NW gale funnelling down the Dales/valleys. Not sure I have seen winds that strong for a long time. Two trees down in neighbours garden and lots of disruption and lucky escapes in the wider area.

Really icy out there now with frozen slush and ice on the pavements . Had snow showers most of the day but a slow thaw of the lying snow. We now have a thin layer of snow on the grass and patches on pavements as has been the case every day since Monday night . An interesting week if nothing classic.

Fingers crossed for something even a dusting, which might stick around in the shade for a couple of days. Don't feel as confident for here but higher up in the Dales should do well . Personal Weather Station Dashboard | Weather Underground WWW.WUNDERGROUND.COM Weather Underground provides local & long-range weather forecasts, weather reports, maps & tropical weather conditions for locations worldwide. Good to see this station at Otterburn, Northumberland is down to 0.6c now, a dramatic fall from 7-8c only an hour or so ago. Will be watching with interest as it moves south.

Driving from Saddleworth to Leeds first thing tomorrow morning so may encounter some difficult conditions . Looking at the models and Met Office app I am reasonably confident of a covering at home . But models like theEuro4 just show such a defined west to east split when in reality the valleys further west will see less snow than hilltops further east.

There were indeed. Three falls of 12cm plus here. Best one was Jan 8th as there ended up being over 5 inches of snow when little was predicted. Snowed all day and piled up during daylight hours, quite rare. Harrogate and North Leeds got plastered. Cars abandoned, north of the Ring Road was impassible, people couldn't get home from work, but there was no snow in Armley, Kirkstall etc , elevation and being that slightly bit further north was the key. It hung around unmelted the next day too, still in the trees etc. Then less than a week later on the 14th, we had even more , more than 6 inches , rain turned to snow before Dawn and lasted all day again piling up all day. We were in a sweet spot again as it was sleet in York and rain west of Pennines. Again the day after was a stunning day with no melt. That one was better forecast but we still got more than expected. Those two events were really special.
