  1. Ah very close then. I remember your pics from 2008-10, when I lived in Idle thinking wow there is lots of snow in Cookridge. Always does well when wind is from the east or NE . One of the reasons I bought a house here.
  2. Strange today in that about 2pm, when we had maximum snow depth of 3.5cm, looking across to the NW to the slopes of Otley Chevin , , the fields were green, no snow, but roofs and fields were white looking east towards other parts of North Leeds. Normally the other way around. What seemed to be key was getting a good covering around 11am when the air was colder, we were really lucky we got caught by some heavy snow, then when it got a bit warmer the snow still settled as everywhere was already covered.
  3. Yes! Hammering it down here, we are just N enough. Biggest flakes I have seen in a long time.
  4. Nice snowfall here in NW Leeds. 2.5cm fluffy snow, everything covered again. Hope that was just the starter!
  5. For me here in NW Leeds at 190masl it has been an ok cold spell so far, quite typical of what we experience most years. Still have 2cm snow cover on the grass and a mix of ice, snow and bare patches on roofs, pavements and the side road. Looks very wintry indeed outside and yesterday was very pleasing with no thaw at all and high of just 0.7c. Today may be similar . Unfotunutely will likely thaw tonight/tomorrow before the next batch of colder weather Can't really get that excited about the Sunday to Tuesday easterly though, so marginal. With pressure of 1025mb and a strong easterly wind i think we need -8c at 850hpa level as a minimum, need some upgrades.
  6. 2.5cm final snow depth NW Leeds at 190m asl. Thawing from trees now though. 0.9c
  7. Moderate snow and everything nicely covered in NW Leeds. 0.3c
  8. Had a heavier spell of snow which then turned to ice pellets and the two together left a bit of slush on all surfaces. Now rain with a few ice pellets left.
  9. Wet snow at 190m for past hour, not settling, guess it will be above 250m as per the Met Office warning .
  10. 5cm on all surfaces, 7cm on grass in NW Leeds. Turned to rain now though.
  11. 2.5cm snow in NW Leeds. At least we got some snow this winter. Areas to the north seem to have done even better but we just scraped some of the heavier showers.
  12. That Euro4 gap is us unfortunately. Might not happen though. Case of wait and see.
  13. Hi all, Hoping for some snow tomorrow like the rest of you, but think we need to remain very cautious, quite a few could miss out tomorrow. : Take the Euro4 accumulation chart, shows a horrible gap with the band breaking up. Some other high res models have shown this over the last 24 hours. ECM accumulation chart isn't great either. Met Office automated for Leeds doesn't look that great, with light sleet/snow and the Met Office warning does state that some areas might not see any snow. The band will also arrive mid-afternoon which isn't ideal. Personally here I think it will be light sleet/snow, with it just too warm and not heavy enough to accumulate with those to the east and west doing better. E Yorks might be a better bet with it arriving later when its gone dark and also re-intensifying. Hope I am wrong though and there is always Thursday. But if it goes wrong for us, its not really a massive fail given its kind of predicted as I have outlined above. Met Office are right to put out a big warning and many areas will see snow but not everywhere, I just hope Leeds/Sheffield aren't the unlucky spots.
  14. 2cm wet snow in NW Leeds from that last shower. At 190m.
  15. Snowing here in NW Leeds (190m asl) with a slushy covering on surfaces.
  16. Much more than that. Just stopped now. 6cm on hard surfaces and over 8cm on grass. My location is wrong, I live in Cookridge at 190masl
  17. I don't think the radar can be trusted in these situations because looking at it all day it doesnt appear that I have been any more favoured than for example North Leeds. However we now have at least 15cm , roughly half from this morning and half from this evenings batch. it really is severe out there and I think the amber warning is justified, i only live one mile from the Leeds border. Lashing it down with fine snow as it has been all evening.
  18. There is 12 to 13cm here, can't believe there is no snow in northeast Leeds?
  19. Just amazing scenes outside, heavy blowing snow and sub zero temperatures now. 8cm earlier today and about another couple this evening so far but impossible to measure properly due to the drifting
  20. Just got back down to 0c, snow now sticking where it has been cleared again. The snowline should reach you soon.....
  21. Snow here again, temp down to 1.0c...not settling yet, I reckon it will when the temp gets below 0.6c which should be soon as its dropping fast....NORTH BRADFORD 190M ASL
  22. Hi all, snow has got progressively heavier here all afternoon, frustrating at first but now up to a healthy 6cm in Idle, North Bradford at 190m asl. Temperature -0.5
