  1. To be honest I hadn't looked at the models for tomorrow, I was just going off what the BBC north west news forecast this lunchtime was showing.
  2. Hopefully more luck for us tomorrow. I can't complain though the Stoke storm was quite a show even if it was miles away.
  3. That Chester cell looking like it will go right over Manchester Airport just like the one earlier
  4. Your in for a treat if its anywhere near as active as it looked/sounded from here.
  5. Near constant rumble of thunder and distant lightning visible from that Stoke cell, one mean sounding storm
  6. Found this picture of the Manchester storm on Twitter https://twitter.com/planeboy/status/361844734056075264/photo/1/large
  7. I can see that South Manchester/Stockport storm to my north, sky is black and can see the rain shafts. Someone's certainly getting a good soaking from it.
  8. Another heavy downpour here just now and a deep rumble of thunder with it, first one of the day.
  9. Seems to be dying off really, built up slowly then 5 minutes it was fairly active then fading off again now.
  10. Saw that from here, one side of the sky to the other nearly.
  11. Few more flashes and deep rumbles here in the past few minutes.
  12. Thunder in the distance just now. Nothing in comparison to the storm we had one Tuesday though.
  13. Wood might be cheap and easy to build with but when this can happen with a lump of concrete, it makes you wonder what is 100% safe unless you're underground. https://twitter.com/BlakedeBernard/status/336704561882484736/photo/1
  14. Had snow most of the day here since around 8.30, but it hasn't really stuck with the flakes being quite small for most of the day. Roads and paths are quite slushy and pretty slippy though. Seems like the heavier stuff missed here. Now that seems a recurring thing for around here this winter...
  15. Still snowing here, enough so far to cover cars a bit. Never going to stick on the ground at its current rate. Better than nothing I guess...
  16. I'm fairly sure I should be seeing snow if that radar was correct but its still raining like it has been all day here. Possibly a bit sleety, cant really tell with limited light. Would help if the council fixed my most useful streetlight
  17. Yeah it was quite a storm last night for some, I was working in Wilmslow at the time but all we got there was heavy rain and winds which gave most of the trees a trim. But we had a lot of reports of security alarms going off around Macclesfield and Congleton because of it. Then I was driving home an hour later just after 6am and the roads were still white from all the hail in Macclesfield.
  18. And look at that little green patch to the west of the peak district where I am... Glad everyone else got what they wanted though, its 9 times out of 10 its the other way around.
  19. Hmmm yeah, fortunately its very rare for it to happen like it has. Was just very strange how the heavier it got the wetter it got. Think this cold spell was trolling us to be honest, last Friday it stalled on our doorstep and gave a small covering, Monday morning the heavier stuff went around us. And today, well we know that one haha
  20. Have you got any ideas, on why some areas that are usually not favoured so well in marginal conditions, have fared a lot better than some places that are usually good, Macc and Stockport for example?
  21. I'm hoping the touted next cold spell in Feb is a return to normal form for us lol
  22. And here we have 2cm of a slushy icy mess, Fair to say the Macc - Wigan game is still on tomorrow.
  23. Strange, its just got heavier and turned straight back to heavy rain. I've always thought the heavier it gets the better chances for snow? And also how do the motorway cams at Knutsford, Middlewich and Sandbach all show snow yet Macclesfield, which is higher and further east has rain/sleet... Whoever has the giant heater on in Macclesfield, please turn it off
