Oh well, we'll just have to get lamppost watching and keep our fingers crossed. I'm not expecting anything more than a bit of sleet on the coast but I still live in hope.
-
I'm a bit concerned that we will just see sleet at best here in the dome :-(

I notice the mutterings of old Met men seem to be held in very high esteem over on the other thread. Well I never, who would have thought it?
Well he has gone to the trouble of having his heating upgraded so it must be a 'sign' ?

Well here under the snow dome of Wallasey, I was rudely awoken at 5.30 by the loudest thunder I've ever heard and then prevented from falling back to sleep by a very beefy and prolonged hail storm. Nice! :-) :-)

Tornadoes hit Wales and the Midlands, aparently
Quite a bit of damage done - hope everyone around those parts is safe.

Can someone build me a time machine and take me back to the 1980's.
Could you drop me off in 1996 on your way back to the 80's (at least I think that was my best winter here on the NW Coast).

What about us in northeast England ? Backtrack what do you think mate? Bit downbeat in my thread atm
Ahhh :-( Chin up matey :-)
-
Yep light snow here by the coast again :-)
-
Stopping now but it's nice to have a coating of something resembling grated cheese, or perhaps it looks more like basmati rice?
-
Best shower we've had big flakes!
Yes! Really coming down now :-)
-
Wind just picked up here then started lightly snowing again. Happy days :-)

What a fab couple of days weather watching. From snizzle to sleet, high winds to snow this morning. All very enjoyable and fingers crossed for some more over the next few days.
-
Well from what I've seen tonight from the GFS there are some pretty good snow chances for many next week as it stands
Even us Wirral coastal peeps?!?
-
Oh woe is me (us) :-)
-
I'll be watching the rain/sleet passing thru these parts wishing it well in its transition to snow further inland LOL :-)

I was completely correct in my assertion last week that uppers were not conductive of low lying snow, stressing wintry rather than snowy potential.
I'm not sure where you are going with this because I kept continually stressing that point and I was completely correct.
Where are all the pictures of low lying areas seeing lying snow?
It was marginal even in Yorkshire with wintry deposits to lower levels.

Its disappointing to see a minority on here taking an authoritative role against anyone that goes against a snow agenda. Its a meteorology forum not a snow only forum.

It's a CHAT forum! Any chance you could go and 'Police' another regional CHAT forum please?

Countryfile forecast didn't make much of Wed/Thurs snow potential. :-(

I think that warning will get bigger over ther next few days, I'm outside the warning but am still forecast snow.
Yes I'm hoping so to. They're looking certain about this event now and I've noticed my weather app upgrading each day for the past few days when usually it downgrades at the same rate. Fingers and toes crossed it'll all slide further south :-)
-
So what's occurring
Cold spell looking promising for next week, Southerners in the MOD thread full of doom and gloom shouting 'downgrades' with each run. Northerners on the other hand are quietly optimistic :-)

Looks like we're in business
Yes indeed, there is some rather good potential being discussed in the MOD thread at the moment. Fingers crossed :-)
-
Really pleased for all who've had snow. Sadly there's none here but one day it'll happen BIG time and it'll be all the more magical when it does :-)
-
Thin layer of slushyness over the pavement from the current sleet/hail shower.
-
I feel your pain Snowy L :-(
-
Hail hurrah! Something wintery at least :-)

I do hope you're correct but my expectations are still a sleety rain fest. It'll be a very pleasant surprise if Wirral sees proper snow.
