I personally love rain to snow>
Watching the transition & the temp drop bit by bit is mesmerising !Good luck guys
Remember New Years Eve being transfixed in 2009-2010 on the weather station, the temperature dropping like a stone, the very light rain turning to sleet at about 9pm, the sleet turning to proper snow, giving a light covering, then stopping. The temp had gone from +11C to -2 in about 3 hours. It started to sleet and rain again slightly. I was so disappointed, that I just went to bed. Woke up to a belt of thunder at 2 am. Got out of bed, and the snow was belting down, all was white and New year had rung in beautifully for me!!! What followed was the stuff of legends.
I've never lost that feeling. I'll be staying up tonight to keep an eye out anyway!

Bucketing down small snow flakes and grapple here for the last few minutes, starting to stick on the grass....
edit: stopping and melting now!

Biblical rainfall here today for a few hours, lots of localised flooding.

Belting down now here, gusty as hell to.

Looking at the radar, the precipitation is dying off before it reaches here. Shame really as what fell earlier has stayed on grass and there is ice forming on the cars already.

Ice forming already and a flurry sticking instantly. No problem with the WBFL tonight, just need the moisture.
Same here, think precipitation will be the problem tonight

Snowed quite heavily in Dublin on and off all day, nothing sticking. Mountains look glorious!

Definitely windier than Ciara.
Really? Wow, barely a gust here. I was awake all night through Ciara (working) and it was much wilder than this.

Looks like you guys up north are in for a pasting! The precipitation is dying away before it reaches here however, meaning after it's earlier scare, the Dublin snow shield has regrouped and in full force!

Dublin snow shield smashed! Pelted down huge flakes for about 20 minutes, but all melted. Lovely to see mind you!

Wind really picking up her now. I won't use my usual line of what type of person would be blown off what type of sibling, but it's getting to that level!

It's amazing the consistent output regarding this potential violent storm in a week from now. It throws everything at us, violent and damaging winds, rain, sleet, snow, hail and thunder. A vicious storm.

I expect further corrections west in the coming day or two,the 18z is def more amplified
the more amplified the more corrections west ie:- slowing the pattern down
i would even go on to call a scandi block if amplified enough
just my hunch.
OH YOU TEASE!
Everything is on the table right now post day 7/8. Big scatter.- 2

Model output discussion 02/02/20

Actually, one of the most notable things about last winter, was the lack of juicy charts. It seemed like an endless horror show of westerly driven dross. In previous winters, we had charts to drool over in FI regularly, and of course, they didn't come to fruition, but this winter was markedly different and the models performed quite well.
