  1. Been snowing here for a while, large flakes at times, I'm in the east side near j21
  2. Coming down nicely now, small flakes though but looking very grey to the north east
  3. Just had a full on snow flurry, no need to squint and concentrate trying to catch a single snowflake falling,
  4. Considering the arpege is a hires short range model could it really be that wrong!?? I also remember back in Dec during one of the cold spells where the big 3 models were showing the cold continuing, then the arpege came out showing it turning milder and guess what, it turned out to be correct, knowing our luck it won't be this time but the 12z runs could be very interesting.
  5. Guess the question is, if we get a large fall of snow later next week will it be hanging around or be gone within a day or two. Will be nice to see a major snowfall, be even nicer to see it stay on the ground for more than a couple of days.
  6. If it isn't yet it will be after people see Catacol's post in the mod thread. Nothing is ever certain of course but what he says, well that's the stuff dreams are made of for those in the South west wanting severe snowfall. Of course it's happened before (Feb 78, Dec 81) and no doubt it'll happen again (March 2018 perhaps!)
  7. Reminds me of Feb 91, that had a band of snow moving west with the push of cold air, I remember it well.
  8. Weather p*rn again this morning from the ecm , major snowfall for the south and south west by the end of next week.
  9. Low pressure lining up, really doesn't get any better than that for down south.
  10. Too late for me, I'm well above the clouds already lol. I truly wonder if this up and coming (severe) cold spell could rival Dec '81 for snow depth here in Weston, easily a foot of level snow back then, would be awesome to see scenes like that again here before I'm too old to enjoy it In a way I'm torn a bit in that I love cold and snow but I'm also a animal lover and wildlife is really going to struggle, already brought a ton of duck & Swan food and I can see all the bird feeders in my garden being used a lot in the coming very weeks.
  11. Looks like those charts have been drawn by my worst enemy lol, I for one hope these charts don't verify like that.
  12. Now that really would be a kick in the teeth for those of us in the far South if this chart were to verify, hopefully that zero isotherm will be kept clear of the uk if/when any low pressure systems engage the cold air.
  13. What absolutely stunning charts we're seeing from the models! I've said it many times over the years that the South and South West would see another significant snowfall event again, its happened before and it'll happen again. Snow showers from the east will spread well inland in the strong easterly wind and the gfs is already showing lp coming up from the south west from day 10, they would be snow makers no doubt about it. Let's face it the Atlantic will start throwing lp systems at the uk eventually and I'll be looking for them being flattened and becoming elongated West to East and passing just to the south of the uk, that's exactly what happened in Dec 81. I was only 6 when the great blizzard of Feb 78 hit and don't have any memories of that one or how it unfolded in the weather models but my mum has told me how I disappeared in the snow when waking out the door. 2018 could finally bring our long wait to an end for snow armageddon, can you all telll I'm excited lol
  14. Oohh now that I like, that chart better verify I could almost guarantee we would end up with (possibly severe) wintry weather this winter (spring!) , why you ask, because I took up gardening last summer and have numerous plants and dwarf fruit trees in container pots.
  15. Same here, got feeders in the garden all year round, usually attract loads of goldfinches, sunflower hearts is the best food you can use, plenty of birds like that stuff. If the severe cold does arrive I expect to see plenty of birds at the feeders.
