Been sleety here for a while now but was nice to see the heavy snow earlier, easily the heaviest snowfall I'd seen since 2010. -

Yep I don't mind this yawn fest as some call it & I'm not looking forward to the change to a more mobile setup, unless of course it brings the chances of wintry weather which living down south is not the case at the moment so I'd rather this settled spell continued. -

Gfs has been showing snow right down to the south coast, not that I trust it, I'd miss any snow anyway as I'll be watching the midnight showing of the new star wars movie. And it just blows me away how that m4 has such an impact on where snow falls, clearly it was built by god or some other higher power to have such an impact on snowfall!!

Yes they got that wrong, even the forecast I saw late night showed London and surrounding areas to be the furthest west any precipitation would get. Shame the system that came in early Saturday wasn't much further south than was forecast then most of us would have seen winter wonderland scenes instead of a washout.

Yeah that system is way further west than the forecast I saw last night which showed it just clipping the south east! Just checked the south east regional and some people are moaning that all they're getting is rain and people in the west county are seeing sleet and snow lolol

That area of of precipitation around North somerset seems to be decaying.

So glad to have seen snow today, slightly gutted that there's hardly any on the ground considering we had snow on and off, sometimes heavy, for around 9 hours but despite that this winter is only 10 days old and it's outdone the past 4 which have been crap where snow is concerned. Here's hoping we don't need to spend too long chasing the next cold spell, although I hear a tweet from Ian has said that the rest of December with be mild, fingers crossed the turns out to be wrong.

Yeah and look out west mate, all the way back to the south west of Wales and into the Irish Sea, that's how far back echos on the radar stretch could be a great fair few hours of snowfall, at long as the temps stay on the right side.

There was a red mpv type car up there when we arrived, never saw the owner though.

Popped up Bleadon hill in Weston, nice winter scene up there with snow on the ground, first time in 4 years I could hear that sound of snow under foot, sounded awesome.
