  1. Looks like this winter has introduced a new GFS default chart, the intense anticyclone centred over Denmark in far FI. Will need to get it about 500 miles further north for next winter! SS2
  2. A very potent easterly airstream showing T +144 on the GFS but it has been at 144 for the past couple of days. Is it going the way of the previous pc airstreams modelled this winter? That is always just out of reach, only time will tell. I have a hunch that it will disappear only to come back in the +36 to 48 hour timeframe, Wishful thinking? SS2
  3. The temp has dropped quite markedly late afternoon and early evening and it has been smawing (great word Big Innes)could get interesting later tonight. Models are showing continuation of the cold in the foreseeable. SS2
  4. Where did the deep deprerssion go to that was going to give Portugal, Spain and maybe Southern England a battering, surely it just can't disappear. SS2
  5. Have a look at some of these web cams the one for Slochd summit looks interesting. http://www.trafficscotland.org/lev/index.aspx SS2
  6. Welcome to the Scottish thread John. Yes it has been pretty bad up there, have had a look at the web cam on the A9 at Drumochter summit, they are fighting to keep the main route North open. http://www.trafficscotland.org/lev/index.aspx SS2
  7. Took the words out of my mouth, absolutely magnificent! IT WILL HAPPEN. IT MUST HAPPEN, sorry for shouting. SS2
  8. Has been snowing here since I left for work at 0430 and quite moderate it is too, but I'll have to echo the other reports, still only have about an inch or 2.5cm of the wet variety, that really is poor for 9hrs snow. Hope the temp drops tonight and the front decides to go south again or we are screwed. SS2
  9. Fully agree Mr Data, was going to reply earlier but thought 'why bother' the idea is just ridiculous. SS2
  10. Tend to agree with you, the mild air looks like stopping further south, hence my concern on earlier post. SS2
  11. The fax charts don't look like they get the occlusion far enough North to give the Forth/Clyde valley a spell of snow, before it starts moving south again. Hoping they are wrong though. Nice to see TEITS posting here. SS2
  12. Thanks for the reply, yes it is the same place it is quite near Fort William, have been there often. SS2
  13. Could somebody point me in the right direction for Tulloch Bridge, Geography is a bit suspect! Is the proper name Tulloch Roy Bridge. Put it into Google Earth and that is what it came up with. SS2
  14. Still -2c here and foggy, looking forward to the coming days as there is a good possibility of some snow. The GFS puts quite a deep low pressure moving NE over Scotland Monday into Tuesday with what looks like some strong winds and if there is heavy snow well anything can happen. The fax charts are a bit different with the low a lot further SE. Got everything crossed. SS2
  15. Looks like we are in for an interesting 7-10 days if the GFS 1200 verifies with very cold overnight temps and the threat of heavy snow. Why do I doubt it? SS2
  16. That was some result, must be looking forward to Saturday now!
  17. Morning all, temp is -1c and it has started to brighten up after a bit of a dismal couple of hours, temp will probably get up to +4c this afternoon, no snow on the horizon here. SS2
  18. thanks for replying Gilly and Cheggers, and we think we can forecast the weather! that really is heavy duty stuff. SS2
  19. Apologies TWS, gotta pull you up on this one: The Atlantic varying in FI is a direct function of Heisenbergs uncertainty principle and nothing to do with power-factor which is simply the product between voltage and current in sinusoidal AC systems. I just had to copy this from the model output thread. Can some genius please tell me what this means as I haven't a scoobie. SS2
  20. Get the crash helmets out, there is a massive easterly brewing in deep FI on the 1200. All in all it looks a pretty cold run for us, I am not very good at forecasting snow, so keeping my mouth shut. SS2
  21. Some pretty low temps coming up for my neck of the woods especially overnight on the GFS1200, don't know or care about the snow potential, and ther doesn't look like any mild air in the reliable timeframe. it is still abit to early to be talking about spring after all it is only the middle of February. SS2
  22. The GFS at +384 is the chart that I dream at +24 for winter, of course it won't happen but.....one of these years. SS2
  23. Aye its the wrong time of year to mention tax dodging. You have ny sympathies. SS2
