  1. Ive got a question. Just say that these lows that are approaching take a track that is too far south including the wednesday one, will our cold air stay put? Or over time, as these lows are passing to the south, will the cold air eventually turn warmer?
  2. How long until we start to see the UKMO 12Z's? Or have I missed them...haha
  3. Haha, cool sunshine seems to be the norm for Scotland now. Speaking of sunshine, just a thought, could this February see close to record breaking amounts of sunshine for Scotland? I don't think the sun has went away for atleast 5 days now... besides night time of course.
  4. Gotta feel for people in the far south and possibly far north of the UK. Could be a long while till snow hits these places
  5. It's almost as if we are in a win win situation. I feel that if the lows are on a southerly track, one of them will eventually come far enough north to hit the majority of Scotland. Just one is all I ask for! Quite the contrast to summer though, at this point, I think most people would be pleading the lows to go south, now we want them in our back garden! :L
  6. Yeah, i meant wednesday, but didn't word my post well. I am right in thinking, if they push too far north, milder conditions will spread over the majority of the UK sooner rather than later? So the path they are taking the now, by gradually moving further and further north will let the cold air persist for that little longer, which in turn increases snow chances further on the week?
  7. I could see the potential for a lot more than 15cm! Just been out and its bitterly cold, grass frost surviving in the shade as well. But back to the models... hopefully the 12Z's are good, if we still have a low tracking across Central/Southern Scotland and Northern England for wednesday maybe by Sunday or Monday, i'll be one happy bunny!
  8. Woke up this morning to find the 4th day of ground frost in a row. Even the little bit of precipitation last night has left sparkles on the pavement. Currently -1, temperatures got down pretty low here last night! Around the -6 area.
  9. Ohhh helllooo met office. Your my new best friend! I'll happily take 15cm of snow to end winter with!
  10. I remember the events of March 06 very clearly! We had knee height snow here in dunfermline! You could lay in the middle of main roads and be guaranteed to not get ran over! Are we possibly looking at something along the lines of March 06?:lol:
  11. If that area of snow is going to brush edinburgh, I take it I don't stand a chance here in dunfermline! Bummer! Can only hope I guess. EDIT: Just had a look to the NE... Lots and lots and lots of cloud approaching. Totally contrasting picture to looking south towards edinburgh!
  12. I'm classing this winter as an historic winter because at a young age, it's the first time ive seen lying snow for that length of time. My only other notable winter was 06 i think. Woke up on sunday morning to have knee height snow, only to watch it melt away the next day. Also, a picture of the UK on the bbc website showed the whole UK white. I thought that was pretty sweet!
  13. Walking to school this morning with temperatures hovering around -2 or so. Everything coated in frost for the 3rd consecutive morning. Frost lasting until around 12 noon. Around 3 degrees right now, with blue skies since I woke up. God I hope summer turns out like this, not temperature wise, though... haha.
  14. Thanks! What do you think the chances of that little area of snow making it all the way to the Dunfermline area are? Right now, it's pretty much clear blue skies! Lovely outside!
  15. Ive always wondered, why do the models not "come out" until a good few hours than their time? Like, I notice the "12Z" obviously means 12:00, but we don't see it until around 4pm. Just a newbie being curious
  16. Completely blows my knowledge out of the water! Haha! I suppose I just love the winter cold and summer sun more than the other two seasons. But you got a point about the showers, although my knowledge only refers to them as april showers
  17. Really?! Ya dancer! Where about can I find this info? Thanks
  18. Hmmm, sounds good for the northern half of the UK anyway. Just gotta hope the models keep the cold air over us. Never know, the cold air could creep southwards on the next output.
  19. I'm not looking forward to spring due to the fact that I see it as the most pointless time of year, along with autumn. Nothing happens! Besides rain and temperatures that are neither warm or cold. However, I am looking forward to spring because it brings us closer to summer!
  20. Hey, go easy on me guys, this is my first post, haha! I have been following these forums (this thread in particlar) for a while now (lurking) and only just made an account. So, going by the models, what are the chances of Scotland seeing some snow over the coming week?
