  1. Here are a couple of photos one from the twin tornadoes near Idalia, CO and another my first daytime C-G with a lightning trigger and ND filter. Mike.
  2. Update from Paul yesterday after the first ever Arizona Monsoon chase where we scored a tornado...or three! From Paul B: Started in Dumas with a Chase Target of Burlington Models were 3 hours too late with initiating Storms and seeing our Storm going up at 1130am from Lamar had me a tad worried but we made it in time. In the radar grab you can see our slither of a view to the west and also the Storm to the SW of the Hooked Tornadic Supe that produced the Record Breaking Colorado Hailstone at Bethune. Round 2 today
  3. A quick update from yesterday so we can upload some photos of the lightning. Started from Albuquerque, NM and headed East for lunch in Tucumcari, NM. After lunch storms started popping and took a few hours to get going, and as it went dark, we were left with stunning monsoon type storms, and a couple of Severe Thunderstorm warned storms near Cactus, TX, with amazing lightning displays. Pictures to follow! Mike.
  4. Chase Day 2 sees a more May-like setup in Eastern Colorado and Western Kansas, with an ENHANCED Risk for severe storms in. High CAPE is showing favourable conditions for large to very large hail, and a 5% tornado risk exists in the same area as well. We are starting from Dumas, TX and heading North to Burlington, CO area for lunch ready for initiation between the 4pm and 6pm time frame. Mike.
  5. Hey guys, Going to start a few threads for our Arizona Monsoon Chase this year, and put some pictures up of what we get! Bonus chase day, saw the last of the guests arrive in Phoenix, to a pleasant 107F (42C). Unfortunately, very very limited storms around Arizona for the foreseeable as a Westerly airflow dominates, leading to very hot and dry conditions. This was the first ever day I've felt what 100F is like, and it's hot! After the last of the guests arrived, there was a chance of few small storms to the NE of Phoenix, and into New Mexico. With the fact that there are looking like no storms for the next few days, we decided to head East towards New Mexico, and the potential for storms. Saw a couple of storms go up with a couple of bolts of lightning before the sunset and the storms died off.
  6. I know a couple of guys have now flown out. My last day today at work before I fly tomorrow! Might be quite a change temperature-wise. 20C/68F here today, will be closer to 38C/100F tomorrow night by the time I land! Will try and share pictures of the chase days on here for anyone interested! You never know where we might end up!
  7. Something just popped up between Congleton and Stoke, got very bright colours already? Moving towards Macc? Trying to verify if its real or not?
  8. Just over a week to go and yes it appears as if things are cooking nicely out there! Final check of the camera equipment...
  9. Distant thunder from some direction in Macclesfield now. Brief heavy shower.
  10. Yes! Even in the states, a SLIGHT Risk can be far better than a MOD/HIGH
  11. Wait a sec? Manchester in the firing line? Thought it was going to the East of the Pennines! I must admit we have agitated clouds here in Macclesfield, looks very like the states before supercells on a storm chase! I felt lucky after the other night, but hadn't even entertained the idea of storms today. Forecast has strong wording, so stay safe if you do chase! Mike.
  12. Some shots from last night in Macclesfield at about 2.30am - 3am. Mostly I-C, with a couple of C-C and one C-G as it was leaving. Enjoy! Mike.
  13. Looks like initiation in Wales. That went off fast, 2 radar scans!
  14. Looking good still, here in Manchester. Baking hot and a little humid. Quick question about capturing a few photos of lightning here. Is it best to catch the lightning looking South as the storm rolls in or as it moves away to the North? I've got a North facing vantage point to keep my camera on a tripod dry, should we get something. Mike.
  15. Have recently invested in a MIOPS High Speed trigger, which was meant for Netweather's Arizona Monsoon chase in Phoenix next month, however I might get chance to play with it tonight given being South of Manchester. Will share pics if the storms come off and I get the camera settings right! Mike.
  16. 3 weeks to go to 2019 Arizona chase! Excited!
  17. 38.3C - London / Heathrow - Thursday afternoon. Wanted to see London break 40, but just don't think this is that time.
  18. Hope all goes well for you! If Estevan, SK day was anything to go by, you will have a blast! Stay safe!
  19. Bognor Regis Webcam maybe useful later! https://www.bognorregisbeach.co.uk/live
  20. Trying to figure out from the radar scans if they are forming a line and moving North or North East. Might be a drive from Macclesfield across to Chester area later if they persist.
  21. Yep, willing to bet that touched down, if only brie
