  1. And I'm sure you have offended many by suggesting they are bizarre or insane for liking snow and cold weather, but if we're flying insults around like little children on the playground, why the hell not, eh?
  2. Perhaps it's snow falling, not settling.
  3. 7.9 hours of sun today, 26.2 hours of sun over the past 4 days (including today), 55.7 hours for the month.
  4. The MOD thread is the new South East Regional thread these days, with all due respect to those in the SE contingent. If you're not interested in the weather outside of your own back yard, then fair enough, understandable, but that's exactly why the regional threads exist.
  5. The Met forecast for Leeds have those dreaded low cloud symbols.
  6. A frosty morning, with a minimum of -1.1°C, was followed by a very sunny and mild day, with a maximum of 9.5°C. 6.5 hours of sunshine today. Currently 4.2°C, clear and calm.
  7. 18.3 hours of sun over the past 3 days, fell to -1.1C this morning before rising to 9.5C, I could easily get used to this, beats boring cloud-laden easterlies with no snow, 3C by day and 1C by night.
  8. The temperature reached 34.4C at Leeds Weather Centre on the 2nd, 33.2C on the 3rd, with an overnight low of 19.4C. I'd like to see a repeat, purely from a meteorological interest point of view, as opposed to actually enjoying such temperatures.
  9. Are you dry ramping SB?! A good drying-out period will do wonders, the ground is absolutely sodden, so much mud, it makes for very unpleasant walks.
  10. I don't recall this event for any particular reason, the stats suggest it was very wet, but for here at least, I see no very strong winds, certainly nothing unusual. Now, if you want to see a proper wind storm, just look at February 1990 with wind gusts of 98 mph at Leeds Weather Centre (surely the highest of any English city?)
  11. All snow events post-2010 have involved drifting snow. Prior to 2010, I never saw drifting snow, or never noticed it. Some drifting snow will have probably occurred during some childhood snowfalls, but I won't have noticed it.
  12. I was alright, as I took the train home, but the roads were terrible in the city centre, it was like traffic-ageddon with queues of buses and cars on The Headrow, Calverley Street, East Parade, and City Square leading from the railway station.
  13. Centre is ridiculous, gridlocked card, ambulances can barely move.
  14. Indeed itsy, visibility is really quite low, proper blowing snow and drifting.
  15. Snowing well with subzero temps here, will be making my way to Leeds city centre soon.
  16. http://www.yr.no/pla...ur_by_hour.html That's for the centre, for my suburb it's forecast to stay at freezing.
  17. The high-res EC model is showing snow in Leeds from 10:00 to 22:00 Wednesday, with temperatures at freezing, and hourly precipitation values as high as 2mm, and shows it as an all-snow event, before rain arrives later on.
  18. It will be nice to experience the first teens temperatures - reached 16C in Feb last year, but I recall it being quite breezy and it wasn't very sunny, either.
  19. Similar problems arise at Eskdalemuir.
  20. Summer 2013 will buck the recent trend? Shades of '76 anyone? There's a reason why there is no summer thread at the moment.. people have been saying so for long that summers cannot continue how they are, and we must get a 'belter' eventually.. well.. that is obviously not the case!
  21. If we do get another warm, sunny spring, let's just hope that it isn't followed by the exceptionally wet, dull and often cool summers that followed the months you mentioned, eh?
  22. I wonder if we'll get as much snow as Leeds, Massachusetts? 17 Inches by trailerfullofpix, on Flickr
