  1. Now this is the sort of post i like to read, Glacier Point off the fence and predicting a glorious Easter
  2. I remember how it was nice for weeks in early spring and quite warm too. Warm weather never felt far away that year and then into August and wow. I would love a repeat of that August, the temps were incredible and the breakdown was scary.
  3. If i had to compromise on a particular month then its about time we had a warm/hot August.
  4. I remember waking up on i think a sunday morning to snow in June imby (saddleworth area), this would be 88-91 i think, not 100% sure of the year but i was a teenager at the time. My mate had a sleep over and he thought i was on the wind up when i shouted out as it was June. If anybody can dig out that chart it would be good.
  5. What was Greater Manchester I live near the Lancs/yorks border at over 600 feet and even when we are forecast good snow it somehow rarely happens and yet 10 miles East over the hill they have tons of the stuff I call it the Manchester dome which closes when snow approaches and opens for rain.
  6. I wouldn't have expected it to be very high. With the exception of last winter Greater Manchester has been pretty poor for years when it comes to getting its fair share of snow. Living on the western side of the pennines there are many occasions when we should have in theory got alot of snow but somehow anything significant has always managed to avoid us. I hear 80's style winter mentioned alot regarding last winter and its true that back then we used to get deluge after deluge, or so it felt like, last winter was the only time it has come close to that in years. I am hoping and my gut feeling is we will get close to a repeat this year.
  7. How far south will these winds penetrate?
  8. I am off to Devon next friday for the rest of June, starting to get quite hopeful for nice weather now.
  9. So the general concensus is that things will start to improve this weekend and that high pressure may start to build in next week. However how far, long and warm are still up for debate?
  10. I live 15 mins away from those pics and can concur it was stunning, the gutters suffered though in the area as they collapsed under the weight of the snow.
  11. I am all in favour of the GFS summer run How would a low in the continent affect the south west?
  12. Any predictions for the second half of this month?
  13. It rained here until mid afternoon Saturday and then has been dry and pleasant since until today, hardly a poor bank holiday. Interesting that the ECM is showing warm air fighting back next week after the breakdown, a June like the one forecast on weather outlook is what i would love to see.
  14. Exactly Summer in the uk for me is a nice few days followed by a breakdown with thunderstorms, then another nice few days.
  15. To balance yesterday where i was told i was negative for posting Weather Online's poor forecast. UK Outlook for Monday 14 Jun 2010 to Monday 28 Jun 2010: The theme of sunshine and showers is likely to continue at first with perhaps a trend towards higher pressure giving drier and brighter conditions. Many areas should see a good deal of sunshine and warm to very warm temperatures. Southern and western parts may see more in the way of rainfall with the possibility of some thundery weather, whilst northern and eastern regions should remain drier. Even though i am going to the south-west i would take that forecast now if offered it.
  16. I remember waking up on one June Sunday when i was about 14 (give or take a year) so about 20 years ago and there was snow on the ground, this was in the saddleworth area.
