    Wet morning, sunny afternoon in Leith. First day to work in two weeks, and boy, the Pentlands aren't half brown. Nearly orange!

    Heavy rain all around us today - South Lanarks, other parts of the western Borders got a pasting. Went to Biggar and the B Road flooded in parts. Ten minutes drizzle at home. Hosepipe oot! Leeks coming on...

    23 miles is quite a distance to compare the two. Motherwell is urban, Drumalbin Castle is in beautiful rural countryside.

    Beautiful morning. Breezy but so sunny.

    Pleasant enough in Leith - 15C and a wee bit of blue sky about. Drizzle was threatening around Penicuik on the way in, but fine now.

    The car said 23C in Peebles earlier. And now back home had a couple of hours of crash bang wallop and some steady but not torrential rain. Great summer's day!
