NLCs over Russia, ive seen nothing from any Euro cam just yet. Plenty are clear.

Still quite a bit of cloud here...

I make that poor for tonight, but promising tomorrow...

Might be a chance of a morning display, with the detection of the NLC`s by the lidar on the Baltic this evening

Trouble is, a lot can happen in 5 days...

There is definitely a relationship with sightings over the UK to daytime signals from OSWIN, which needs more time to refine

The full rotation can be checked on its transition by sightings over specific places to the UK. ie, tonight i would expect sightings over Eastern Canada, as there was last night in Saskatchewan, Canada, which related to Tuesdays UK sightings

And similarly I would be looking for 'official' sightings from central Russia, 1 day out to check on the expected transition of the full rotation

this one is more difficult because where it`s been a poor season for much of the Northern hemisphere there always seems to be huge displays on the camera`s over Russia🤔

  3. I guess we will never no whether the cloud count was broken over the past 4 days due to missing plots🤬   .. So fluctuating it is then

Edit; Looking at this latest plot which was for Tue night/Wed morning there is a spike of clouds down to 60° Lat and beyond over our area, which would account for the sighting we had here on Tue/Wed

  4. Just some observation Rob and not a crystal ball🙂
The best way to check is using the NLCNET website and checking for any sightings, 5 days before

    ED-CO.NET

Information on what noctilucent cloud is and how to observe and report sightings.

They work on the two date system to cover both Evening/ Morning sightings
For example tonights date is 06/07 to which 5 days ago was 01/02 for any sightings over the UK ( theres`normally a photo with the sightings so you can judge validity)

At the NLCNET site, go to 'July' at the 'latest sightings' tab, where you will find contributors reports

we can see that on 01/02 there was a report from Scotland of a low display on the last full rotation of the mass

There's no assurance if the mass is fluctuating, as it is now, according to the cloud counts on the plots from NOAA-21, to which are becoming more randomly published.

  5. After a relatively quiet week of Solar activity the latest NOAA-21 plot as been released

    noaa2130.thumb.jpg.6f80eb753dfdd55c0738533e56cdc25e.jpg

And shows a re-intensification of the cloud mass (up to 2186 clouds, almost a record for the season, which looks to be broken by the next plot)

Looking at the plot there is a mass around the UK and Scandinavia which would have been last Friday, to which all of N Europe was clouded out

The full 5 day rotation of UK sightings, which we`ve noticed over the past 3 rotations was due on Fri/Sat

This, with the lack of Solar activity, and being the right side of fluctuating cloud mass.

Leaves me confident that the full rotation is still valid, which starts tonight Tue/Wed and on to Wed/Thur

    Good luck everybody

Edit the De-ja- Vue has started with the radar signals from OSWIN and Capel Dewi

  6. Wasn`t really expecting anything,

Just a good night to give my new/old camera an introduction to it`s new life🙂

This was taken around 03.00, just after moonset with the twilight rays just topping the smut level.

    Revealing Nunk

we cant calculate without the timestamp.. well.. not easily..

Very difficult and a bit guessy.... Alway worth a shot though😉

The only thing iv`e got without the AIM  is the 5 day full rotation, which has been a constant for the last 3 rotations, with corresponding radar signals.

....the good thing is the mass is increasing....for now
