The radar showed lightning not far from here yesterday but didn't see any or get any thunder, some structure shots Cells were getting going to the south at the same time

With regards to warmer weather I agree, nothing scientific with my thought more of a gut feeling that it could be hurricane / tropical storm that moves in the direction of the UK which might change the pattern to a warmer one, I might end up being completely wrong and I don't use the seasonal model charts (we know how wrong they got last winter) but I'm interested to see if they are near with the high pressure predictions, I'm not overly convinced as that positioning would likely have the majority of hurricane activity being fish storms.

Pics from this week Monday, again looked like a gust front attempt possibly a bit of lowering on the leading edge and bit of scud Wednesday distant convection but escaped the showers

Night lightning show tomorrow ... might be Storms develop across England and push north/ NNW with our chances from teatime onward

There was a bit of scud And a later shower looked to be having a shot at developing a gust front Hail just before that VID_20210506_192557.mp4

Looking at the radar most of the precip has skirted here so far, amazing to see the snow pics and I bet there's not been many snow warnings covering a large part of Scotland in May @Mr Frost called it @damianslaw even the Met O calling it "quite unusual"

Today's convective snaps Didn't really have any showers directly impact here however a light flurry it was either snow or graupel but a first for me in May and at 11C! The timing of the first precip tomorrow morning here I expect around 10am either snow or hail then as that clears and instability builds thunder and hail widely again

I do think some of us will be reporting snow with tomorrows showers, crazy hail and thunder likely too Some angry skies earlier

Think most are awaiting the storms in Texas / Oklahoma some crazy unstable air in place

Line of convective activity looks likely for tomorrow with convergence and a trough, I think the heaviest of the precip will be around the Pennines but with the cold air coming in I would expect hail pretty much anywhere along it

looking at the April stats Scotland mean temp 4.6C 12th coldest tied with 1973&1929 , 6th driest also frostiest April on record East Scotland mean temp 4.4C 10th coldest tied with 1989&1918, 4th driest @Mr Frost might be a chance for you tomorrow, think the heaviest of the convective line will be across southern Scotland extending down through the Pennines and possibly southern parts of England probably hail along it with the cold air rushing in

Feels crazy to talk about a snow chance in May but keeps popping up for early Thursday morning in the north might even give lying snow will be really interesting once its in a shorter timeframe
