  1. How's it going today folks? Really looking forward to seeing some snow! By the looks of thing the next week could be interesting! I would say our little Irish thread could go into overdrive come Sunday night! Also really looking forward to my little son of 4 months seeing his first snow! We bought the wee girl a sledge last year and because the weather was so bad it didn't get delivered until the new year when the snow had all melted! She is constantly asking me when is the snow coming daddy! Lol
  2. Lol Pomeroy that sounds like something out of Beverley Hill Billys!
  3. Well here's hoping anyway Shadow. Even if Derry doesn't see any I will be travelling over the Glenshane everyday next week so I'm bound to see snow at some stage! I would say that Pomeroy will be first to report snow on here! Lol
  4. Very quiet in here lads! Realistically what is our chances of seeing snow next week? I need a snow fix ASAP! Lol
  5. You all mention the potential for Scotland and the North West. Does this include N.Ireland as we haven't been mentioned to much. In past years we have done well from this type of setup.
  6. Very cold out tonight! There was sleet on the Glenshabe about an hour ago while I was driving home from work!
  7. Yeah Harps just back from walking the dogs and it's very windy out tonight. Just wish the weekend would hurry up and arrive so we can have a better idea of what to expect next week! We are in a great position to do well out of these set ups.
  8. Allot of reports on Facebook of Thunderstorms and heavy hail and sleet in Donegal!
  9. Have a read at this! http://www.donegaldaily.com/2011/11/29/batten-down-the-hatches-donegal-to-be-hit-with-sleet-snow-and-110kph-winds/
  10. Thanks for verifying that Harps! People on here probably thought I was going mad on here giving reports of sleet, lightning and snow flakes! Lol
  11. How's it going Wintry Tale! Very cold and windy out tonight! Definately feels more seasonal! I think the prospects are looking good for the upcoming cold spell! Things should look a bit clearer as we head towards the weekend!
  12. My brother in Law just came in and said he seen 2 flashes of lightning on his way to my house. He also said that there was a few flakes of snow mixed in the heavy rain!! Interesting stuff!
  13. Conditions seem pretty marginal this evening!! Just home and while driving over the Glenshane there was heavy sleet! The temp showing in the van was 1 degree! Would I be right in saying that the dew point also has to drop for snow to fall?
  14. How's it going today folks! The past 24 hours has been a bit mad with the weather! Had a very tricky drive this morning to work as there was allot of water on the roads! What I have noticed the past week is the vast differences in temperatures from day to day! Last night it was 11/12 degrees and today it's 4! I think we may see some wintry stuff over the next week but I have seen things change drastically in the past so will wait to later in the week before getting my hopes up! I also think that because so much is happening in the models then it could come down to nowcasting later in the week and there could be a few surprises as we go into next week for hillier areas!
  15. Just went to take the dogs out for their walk and didn't realise how bad of a night it was out!! Some serious amount of rain falling!! Anyone care to give their thoughts on the weather this coming week? Surely hilly areas will see the first snow of the 2011/12 winter! Have to travel over the Glenshane everyday for the next two weeks so there could be some tricky my driving ahead for me!
  16. Good man Watcher and good on you for taking the time to do this!! Wish i had the knowledge to put something like this together!
  17. Come on Watcher get a move on with you forecast! Lol! Snow for next week? Things are looking good anyway!
  18. Thanks for that Shadow! It does look interesting for my area from next weekend! Meto outlook also gives wintry showers for hills later on Tuesday and Wednesday. Also from reading the model threads it seems the models are picking up on something colder to! Would really love to see some snow soon. This time last year we had an Artic blast on our door steps and as far as i can remember we had heavy snow on 27th November. Hopefully something will build soon!
  19. Hows it going folks! Its a real nasty night out there tonight! I always go in and check the Metcheck long range forecast just to see if there is any eye candy and was real surprised when i checked tonight!! Now if that came off then i would be a happy man!! Go into Metcheck and type in Derry and feast your eyes on that!! It will be gone by this time tomorrow! Does Metcheck long range update as the models change or what way does it work as for the past week or 2 it keeps throwing up snow from the 4th December on!!
  20. We have a wee girl of 9 and she is a wee granny! My wee boy is just about 4 months old and i know for a fact he is going to be trouble! He's trying to get up to everything and if he doesn't get what he wants he screams the house down!
  21. Lol your not wise! Some children just don't wanna no and it doesn't matter what you wave in front of them! Oh how i would love to see some of the white stuff!! The hype to winter started far to early this year!
  22. New job is going great! Thanks for asking! It's very demanding dealing with children that don't want to smile for the camera! I'm sure it will be a very rewarding job in the long run. Love travelling about as it beats sitting in a call centre.
  23. I really look forward to Monday Watcher! Should be interesting! This was on the Foyle Bridge today! Some gusty winds today! I was working in Enniskillen yesterday and today and the drive home was madness! The road between Enniskillen and Omagh was really bad with flooding and the rain today was horizontal! Not nice!
  24. Yeah Sundog it's hard to believe that was early a year ago! It's also hard to believe that once the thaw set in on Boxing day last winter then that was winter over! There are some encouraging signs as we head towards the start of winter but nothing like the signs we had last winter! It was more or less locked in at this stage last year!!
